The pilot set his home on fire, went to the airport and stole the plane and then flew it into the building on purpose.

They are saying it wasn't a terrorist act. His name was Josheph Andrew Stack and he did own the airplane. He started a fire in his home where his wife and daughter were at home and rescued by a neighbor, then went to the airport.

There was some talk of an IRS office in the building.

One dead, two taken to hospital injured, one stabilized and transfered.

It's domestic terrorism, according to the guidelines of the Justice Department. Fits the profile of "single-issue terrorist."

According to FARK Newsflash, this is a link to a website the pilot, Joseph Stack, put up before taking off this morning.

If you’re reading this, you’re no doubt asking yourself, “Why did this have to happen?”  The simple truth is that it is complicated and has been coming for a long time.  The writing process, started many months ago, was intended to be therapy in the face of the looming realization that there isn’t enough therapy in the world that can fix what is really broken.  Needless to say, this rant could fill volumes with example after example if I would let it.  I find the process of writing it frustrating, tedious, and probably pointless… especially given my gross inability to gracefully articulate my thoughts in light of the storm raging in my head.  Exactly what is therapeutic about that I’m not sure, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

A man is pushed so far he kills himself and all you can do is laugh and gloat that you were "right".

Please look to your soul, sir. I worry for you.

I will give you that PA is a bit wacky. But the guy was unknown to us. Why should I feel sad?

I truly doubt he was "pushed" into doing anything. This is all probably due to his own inactions.

Jeffff -> RE: Plane crashes into Austin building (2/18/2010 12:21:40 PM)

Oh Please. the death of one does not diminsh the rest of us. The death of  Pol Pot? WHo decides who is worth My sympathy?

windchymes -> RE: Plane crashes into Austin building (2/18/2010 2:39:01 PM)

An article I just read about it said that he didn't file a tax return because he had no income one year, then another year he didn't declare his wife's income. Sounds like he kept trying to live by a set of his own rules and then got pissed off because they caught him.

"Only two things are certain....death & taxes". [8|]

Level -> RE: Plane crashes into Austin building (2/18/2010 4:45:30 PM)

He had been fueding with the IRS since the 1980s. As far as I know, his wife and child had left the home before he torched it, and are safe.

I understand what he felt, but what he did was inexcusable.

You probably should worry about him. We all should. He's probably got something similar cooking. Look at the plethora of anti-government posts pa makes on this very site. It's only a matter of time. According to the news, the guy in Austin said in his note that this had been building for awhile.

Things like this always happen where they pour over his effects and writings and wonder how they missed the signs that he was planning something like this. pa gives us these signs every day. We make fun of him for his tinfoil hat......but I think it's only a matter of time before he snaps like this guy did as well.
