Actually, it's starting to sound like the old guy might have started the whole thing. One witness is reporting that it all started when he asked the black kid, "How much to shine my shoes?" or something along those lines. If that's true, you've got to expect a reaction out of someone when you do that.

Exactly.  It's on the video.  If you just walk up to a random back man and start asking about a shoe shine how would you actually expect him to react?  The people posting in glee about how funny this is all seem to have missed that point.

So a person sitting on a bus who gets an obvious race baiting statement tossed in his face is a punk?  Of course the person who instigated the mess is some kind of hero.

Some I would expect that reaction from and they didn't disappoint.  Others of you I am ashamed of.

Shinning shoes is "racist" now?
Me and my brother used to shine shoes in Boston when we were kids and we made good money at it too!
We'd have to move every few hours because of the cops telling us to move along but that was before we knew about "payola."
Two "White Irish" kids shinning shoes, is that "racist" too?

Anybody notice the Seat Bench SIGN at the End of the Video?
Pricelessly summed the whole damn thing up

Now I could launch into some history lesson about racial stereotypes and imagery from vaudeville to the present, but if need it explained it to you then you simply don't want to understand.

That having been said, he had every right to be offended. He did not have every right to accost the man physically, and that is a lesson I hope he learned well.

Here is another video recorded on a bus in London. Where else can you find a bus full of Nigerians arguing with Ghanians?

ETA: The argument started over someone accusing some of the Nigerians of being fake Nigerians.

I don't know, but it makes you wonder, doesn't it? I mean, apparently most scammers use Internet cafes to send their messages. Now I can understand all the mistakes they make, as it can't be easy with all that arguing and shouting going on. It must be quite distracting.

Violet, I dissagree, there's nothing dishonerable about hard work.

You are right about that. There's nothing dishonorable about hard work.  Suggesting that someone else is suited to a menial task based solely on their ethnicity? Plenty of shame in that.
