I have an old house (about100 yo) and my office has always been in the basement.  I very old wet basement.

Last week, my oldest child moved out and I moved my office from the basement to that room.  Wow...heat!!!  who knew!!!!  I was perplexed as I sat in my new office, writing...while sweating...why ....this had never occurred...

So today...I sit in a warm room, with painted walls and heat ducts as I complete my work.  I am blessed...or perhaps I should ask my child, while they had such wondrous working conditions why they did not get better grades....NO, I'm just happy with heat

I got smart after the third kid.  I painted his old room bright hot pink so he wouldn't come back.

Did you put a TV in the room?

Hey, you should let me move in with you. I love old houses!

Ahhhh............I have two young daughters (2yo,& 1 month)  and I feel that would not work.  I'm thinking I need dead animals or at the very least horns on the wall to keep them out

Is that like when people used to put heads on stakes as warnings to their enemies?

I'm just teasing you. Congratulations on your new office and your new found heat! I know I can't stand to be cold! BRRRRRRRRR!

If you find yourself relaxing and drifting off in the warmth, then you'll know why he didn't get better grades. There's a reason schools have hard, uncomfortable chairs.

Well, how you redecorate has to be gender specific.  However, the last one never moved back so I must have done something right.

A mom does whatever is necessary to get the little birds out of the nest permanently.

Family want to visit.   I just tell them up front- there is a 2 week time limit.

It works.    They ARE welcome.   But when to say when- is drawn at 2 weeks or sooner.

LaTigresse -> RE: Family (2/14/2010 7:30:12 AM)

Awww PA, most of my family is welcome anytime. They don't have to give any sort of notice. They simply have to be realistic in what I will or will not be able to do for and with them.

this has to other effect too.   "oh cool" We dont have to get out real fast.    Surprise visits are unlikely- because we live 700 miles apart.

--- also- I dont run a complete household.  (to save money)  I would need a heads up to place into service the stuff to house more then 1.    A good example is that I use a dorm size fridge and hot plate.

Also- I am in no hurry to dig up the yard for a new sewer line.  and mom clogs toilets with extra toilet paper.  so that is a rule- dont clog my toilet.   and dont tell me I need a good plunger... you cant stuff gobs of paper down the pipes. period.

on the other hand- I have 4 bedroooms... so I do have the space.

off topic, but when i needed a vehicle i bought a pink pick-up with "Puff Power!!" air-brushed on the side. Hubby and the step-sons never borrowed it.
