Actor Rip Torn was arrested on Friday night after he allegedly broke into a Connecticut bank with a loaded gun.

Police allegedly found the Men in Black star lying on the floor of the Litchfield Bancorp building clutching a loaded revolver.

Torn - real name Elmore Rual Torn - is said to have been drunk at the time of his arrest, and has been charged with a string of offences including carrying a pistol without a permit, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass and third-degree criminal mischief.

He is currently being held on a $100,000 (£62,500) bond and is due in court on Monday.

Litchfield Bancorp boss Mark E. Macomber has spoken to TMZ.com and tells the website he doesn't believe the actor was trying to steal anything from the bank, but thought he was in his own home.

Torn has previously been in trouble with the law over alcohol-related offences, including a driving under the influence (DUI) arrest in December 2008. He was handed probation and ordered to enrol in an alcohol education program.

If he still had his MIB issued neuralizer he wouldn't have a problem....he could just slip on his shades, do the little flashy thing, give everybody a good memory and be on his merry way.....but apparently he traded it for a bottle of whiskey

Eh, this sort of behavior is somewhat typical. Certain Hollywood stars get taken into the fold of the "star-maker machine" culture, and get used to being taken care of and "handled". The thing is, once they stop being useful, they get ignored - or worse, behavior which was being handled externally before is no longer being dealt with. Same sort of thing happened a few years back with Wynnona Rider.

You come in as a young, fresh face, and someone offers to "sell" you to the Hollywood machine. You agree, and within a few weeks they get you all the drugs, sex, and attention you could possibly want. And they keep you in that haze for as long as you continue to be their little pet star, until they're done with you and they toss you out to fend for yourself.
