Sorry if this is on the wrong board, it seemed like the best choice. I'll move it if it's wildly inappropriate. :) So, my girlfriend and I have recently got some, um, unpleasant messages from this straight male dom. He's being VERY disrespectful, and keeps making borderline-rape threats to my very-gay gf. Is there some procedure for getting him to STFU? Will blocking him do the trick? SHould I take steps to warn other women? Help!

Jeffff -> RE: Help please! (1/29/2010 11:52:52 AM)

Report, block, delete.  That should be fine. As for warning other women..... one persons nightmare is another persons dream.  Let other women make up their own minds.

Blacklisting is not allowed, but you can block him and you will not receive his messages anymore.  If it is as bad as you state, you can also hit the report button on the email page.  This will alert the administration to the problem and, if he has a habit of doing this and others have reported him also, his profile may be pulled.  Play this smart and be safe.  All my best!

LaTigresse -> RE: Help please! (1/29/2010 12:06:07 PM)

Let me see.

If someone was making threats of violence towards me or someone I loved, what would I do.......

Oh yeahhhhhh, it happened several years ago on this site, and I did. I contacted the local law enforcement, gave them all of the information, found out he was a registered sex offender By threatening me and me providing proof via the saved emails, he violated his probation. Now the little sweetheart is back in jail.

Voila'! Problem solved.

scribeofclio -> RE: Help please! (1/29/2010 12:17:44 PM)

Thanks for all the supportive responses, I'm definitely taking all the advice to heart and action. :)

stella41b -> RE: Help please! (1/29/2010 12:34:59 PM)

I would block him but inform him he's being blocked and that if he tries to contact you further by any other means you will 'take action'.

HisSub1213 -> RE: Help please! (1/29/2010 12:43:42 PM)

Am I right in my recollection that making threats over the internet falls under the jursidiction of the FCC and is a federal offense?

LaTigresse -> RE: Help please! (1/29/2010 12:55:00 PM)

Something like that.......I didn't bother with any sort of polite warning. Just BAM!!!!!!!!

DrkJourney -> RE: Help please! (1/29/2010 1:06:30 PM)

not to rain on the parade but sometimes blocking doesn't work.  I would report him, then block him and hopefully that works, the majority of the time it does, but on occassion you get those that go and make a new profile and keep emailing you.  I had one that I would block and within a few minutes he would email me again, just ad another number to the end of his original nik...this was not a kid, this was someone in their sixties.

Report each one, although it's a different nik, is IP address will be the same and CM can latch in on that, block each one, and never respond to him.  If it gets out of hand, do as LaTigresse says and report him to the police.

edited to ad to make sure you save the emails.

domiguy -> RE: Help please! (1/29/2010 1:09:47 PM)

Block or report him, that is one course of action.

The bigger question is why your girlfriend has not come around and embraced the dick?

All that pussy going to waste because she is just being stubborn and acting silly.

SubRoar -> RE: Help please! (1/29/2010 1:51:20 PM)

What a cad.

Block him and report his ass.

ResidentSadist -> RE: Help please! (1/29/2010 2:11:17 PM)

In detail, your 'read mail' interface has a 'report message' and 'block sender' button when you veiw a specific piece of mail.

Also, in your 'home' view on the collorme.com side, there is a Help button (click for link). In the help section they say:

Reporting Illegal Conduct
If you become concerned about possible improper or illegal conduct relating to one or more persons who may have created an account on this public website, you should consider contacting your local law enforcement agency. They will be in a position to interview you and take your statement, gather evidence, interview relevant witnesses, issue subpoenas, and otherwise investigate your claims in an impartial manner. For legal reasons, we are not able to investigate allegations of criminality outside the context of law enforcement.

rosebanks -> RE: Help please! (1/29/2010 4:37:56 PM)

Hi all -- I'm the gf in question :) Thanks for the advice. I reported a couple of his messages as threatening and the first one as spam, then blocked him. About 15 minutes later he sent me a message from a second profile -- same name with a 2 appended (I quote: "DON'T YOU DARE BLOCK ME BITCH", lol). I reported that message as vulgar, then blocked that profile too, and I haven't heard from him since, so I don't think it'll be necessary to contact law enforcement. (Much as I'd like to, I don't have any identifying information, as far as I can tell.)

domiguy -- I'm pretty sure my gf wouldn't say it's going to waste *g*

ResidentSadist -> RE: Help please! (1/29/2010 4:49:47 PM)

Mail him a link to this thread. LaTigresse’s post is a good example of how server software logs IPs and can be used by law enforcement. That’ll shut him up.

No, if it is interstate, telephone or internet is DoJ, but it is indeed a Federal offense. Investigation is done by FBI with local law enforcement. A complaint should be filed with the carrier or the ISP, which will work with the FBI or local law enforcement, to provide evidence and locate the miscreant. Some internet crime comes under the wing of the United States Secret Service, carrier and ISP work with them, as well.

Don't hesitate to do that should you continue to be threatened, law enforcement is dependent on folks like you to help identify violent criminals. This type of behaviour never stands on its own, the perpetrator usually has a history of violence, and law enforcement wants to nail these criminals before they do real damage, and they can only do so if they have your complaint.

It is very easy for us, in the industry, to find out who such a person is, and it happens all the time, either the FBI or the Secret Service makes a request, we track the message stream in cooperation with carriers and ISPs, and board administrators such as those here with CM. All we need is an IP address and we are usually able to provide the location of the perp by the next day. Police local to the perp is then sent in to speak to the person, unless (s)he is a convicted felon, in which case they're brought in for interview on the spot. You can file an FBI report online, and if you prefer to call local law enforcement, you'll find you'll be speaking to a detective who will take you seriously. Don't hesitate, people like this person do not stop, or go away, ever. Only you can stop them.

I had a case in NJ and CA, where the perp was found at his father's house, and served with a NJ restraining order by CHP officers in front of his dad. At the same time, local officers in Orange County went to speak to his wife, pretending to look for him, and explaining to her why they were looking for him - she was completely unaware. The gentleman was located on the basis of one cellular text message, and the court order issued when the local carrier found he had placed over 700 calls with blocked caller ID to the girl's number - in one day. From filing the complaint to serving the order took 48 hours. We and law enforcement like to take immediate action on these things, because these people do not stop, and they ALWAYS move beyond harassment and stalking eventually, and they are really good at what they do, because they do it for years, all the time. This gentleman turned out to already have flown to New Jersey to try to find the girl, unsuccessfully.

Since the OP was already maturely dealt with:

Weren't you the one up in arms about some other fellow wanting to share his pussy? Or are you just looking for another person you don't know that you can call "whore"?

Jeffff -> RE: Help please! (1/29/2010 7:55:08 PM)

NZ?.. that surprises Me. I had you pegged for someone who recognizes satire when he sees it...:)
