Eleven days after 9/11, I was flying from Denver to NYC - forgot that I had an antique, sentimental drawing compass in my Day-timer. Pointy object, therefore confiscated - other choice was to exit to Post Office and mail it to myself, which of course, would have caused me to miss my flight !!!!!  (Oh, and security called it a protractor...... If it had been a protractor, would that have been confiscated?)

I don't fly so I don't know. Do they now give out plastic sporks with the food on planes like they do in prisons ? Do they count them to make sure everyone returned them ? Will there be a stripsearch if one is missing ?

...the plans are to take the airport rules on the road- to malls- schools- and even public sidewalks.   Mobile security vans will roam and randomly show up and subject the people to searches and questions. 

That is the plan.  So- you do not escape simply by not flying.   

Anywhere there is public- it is thought that security will be needed.

Well, when they get me they get me. I do not ride alone. When they catch up to me I give whatever money I have to the passenger with instructions, they then notify family etc. that I am gone and to take the appropriate steps. When allowed my phone call I will say I have nobody to call. I will be out in 24 hours, get another car and life will go on as usual.

I've been playing this game for so long, no wonder people have trouble believing me.

The world is ridiculous. Don't believe me when I say a fusion reactor can be turned into a plasma cannon with a screwdriver, just watch the show, if it ever comes on. I am reluctant to do so because I won't be around to gloat. Plus aiming the thing is a big problem, first for physical reasons, but also what would be the optimum target ?

My pet's name is "I don't know", so if anyone would like to get that (small) charge for AOL off my credit card every month, go right ahead. Sit on the phone with them for four hours if you like, it takes about that long to get to a real person. It is simply not worth my time.

Ugh, I wonder if Case University has a fusion reactor up and running right now. I have a way in. I won't need a way out.

Remember the first and foremost law of security. You cannot stop a breach, all you can do is slow it down.

It would be handy if the Post Office could have small kiosks near the security checkpoints, that way if you need to throw away something important you can drop it in the mail instead and still make your flight.

Again, sad to say, I can beat that. Same timeframe, a WWII VETERAN was flying home from hawaii with one of those old-school souvenirs of G.I. Joe, complete with WWII era helemt and a piece of plastic resembling a rifle.

TSA made him OPEN the collector's item up and remove that piece of plastic that resembled a rifle.

All this makes me think of the first time I was in jail. They took my glasses. Why ? Whatever this was over 20 years ago.

Fast forward to a few years ago when someone in jail in town here tried to commit suicide with their glasses. They took the arm, placed it between their eyeball and eye socket and smacked it in as hard as they could. The attempt was unsuccessful, but it did cost the taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars for reconstructive surgery and so forth.

Did I just inadvertently say that it's all a money game ? I really didn't mean it, but now that I mention it........ The olman was surprised when we discussed arming guards on planes, or arming the pilots themselves. He was surprised that I didn't understand why it is never going to happen, which is that they don't really care about the people, they care about the plane. It makes sense, if the plane gets hijacked or crashes the insurance pays off, if there are bullet holes in it, they have to fix it. Along came an explaination of the costs involved. It all made sense then.

All this security shit now and they still have near misses. Something will get by though because the thieves will keep on trying ad infinitum. Hey, maybe we should just pay the thieves to watch our money and .........oh wait, that didn't work last time did it ?
