Anyone know if there are issues with accounts being hacked here?

My account vanished (for a couple of hours) then re appeared and automatically logged me in. But more worryingly i've had 2 email accounts that i use for this site hacked (passwords changed and the recovery security questions are now in german and not the ones i chose!!) I've only used the email accounts for my registration on this site, I've never gave them out to anyone.

this has all happened over the last 12 hours.

I've never known anything like this before and am in an absolute panic!

Does anyone have any info on this???? I'm really hoping its something thats not personally directed at me as its really freaking me out!!

I would suggest contacting the powers that be, rather than tossing a fit on the forums.

It would be more productive.

When things like this happen, I think there should be a standard form with certain questions.

Does your PC log on to your email automatically ? Or anything for that matter ?

Do you have strict control over who uses your PC ?

When you get a Cmail asking for a yahoo email or whatever, do you give it out and go chat ?

These are important questions because CM never gets your other passwords. Of course some people use the same password for everything, do you ? In fact if I am not mistake CM will not even give out your real email in the absence of a court order. If your PC logs in without a password, it may have happened right there. If you store a password on your PC, that doesn't give it to anyone else generally. Hackers can do it though, via spyware or keyloggers and such.

I don't consider this a fit. It can be quite important. If you do online buying I would check balances on any accounts used for same. If you've truly been hacked, whatever happened to your account here might be but the tip of the iceberg. You may be sending a new plasma TV to a crackhouse in Detroit. Luckily most credit accounts limit your liability if you make them aware of the problem in due time.

The main problem is who hit you. If it's just some punks having a good time snooping you might not be so bad off. It happens. But a pro is in it for the money. I would scrutinize everything.

Even if you didn't lose a dollar I know, it's like getting home and finding your house ransacked, even if nothing is missing, it is not a good thing.

OP, does anyone else have access to your computer? Have you ever given your password to someone else? Is your password easy to guess - pet's name etc.

If none of these, you may want to take your computer in to a professional and have them see if someone has installed a keylogger program remotely. You could have gotten a virus in an email that did this.

Run antivirus and spyware programs first. And you do need to send this to support because they don't read here.

Download the free version of malwarebytes here. After it downloads, start the program. Click on the update tab and let it update. Then run a full scan of your computer. If it finds anything, click the FIX button. If you have a keylogger, it will find it.

Every now and then, run the update procedure again. You can do several "short" scans between "full" scans.

The free version only runs when you tell it to; the pay version runs whenever your computer is on. It's $25 (I paid $20 with a discount code I found online).

Umm you sure you are really talking about this site and not confused> It does not have recovery security questions. It will just auto send to the registered email on the account. IF you had recovery questions, you were not here.;
