Can you report someone for messaging abuse or spamming you? I have a particular person here that has messaged me under different names five or six times and I have asked them those five or six times not to message me again. Any advice?

Yes, there definitely is. I think its a button at the bottom or top of each message. Report each profile, this way. You are being harassed.

ETA:
Sexyred, I think the person is being blocked and that's why he keeps coming back with a different profile. If not then yes of course OP you should report and then block each incarnation.

I think "under different names" may imply that blocking is a start, but probably won't be sufficient. This person is apparently creating new profiles to spam and/or harass, and you'll have to keep blocking them every time a new one pops up.

There is an option to report a message as spam or scam. When you open a message, there is a button (I think it's at the bottom) that says "Report Message" or something like that. A screen will come up and allow you to report it to the site administrator.

Report them, like now.  That's flat out harassment.  You've blocked them, asked them to stop, yet they obviously persist just to be a jerk.

Report, report, report and ignore. Never respond, never say anything, if you can tell by the username who it is, don't delete and don't read. Just let it sit there.

oh sorry, OP, I know that sucks. I had to block a ton of people and if they persisted under different names, I just reported them for harassment.

it stops eventually and it is actually best to just ignore them. they like the attention, especially if they see a thread written by you about this.

Thank you!, I've seen it before, and none of those categories really apply. I would post his username here, but I know that is against the terms of use and may even be considered slander, and that's just not my style. Honestly, this really wouldn't concern me if I hadn't told the guy point blank the last time he messaged me I really wasn't interested, AND blocked his profile. How many times do you have to tell a person NO!?

At this point, stop saying "No", as it is obviously encouraging him to continue. Report each new profile for harassment, but do not reply to him. no matter how tempting it is.

From the home page, click on "support" at the bottom of the page, and report you are being stalked, with as much detail as possible.

I have a fix for that: Go to the left side of the page where all your buttons are and find the  "edit your profile" button. Click it. Then at the top of the next page hit the "Hide" button. Now when he searches for you, the result will say "no profile found". Unfortunately no one else will see you either.

Leave it like that for a couple of weeks at least. Tell friends that you're doing this and that you will still be able to contact each other but you won't be visible. So they don't get freaked out that they can't see you.

Edited to add: DO NOT respond AT ALL to any of his messages. Just block him and delete them quickly.  No response IS a response.

before you open any c-mails send it to your e-mail address (check the box then click "save message").  You can then read the message from your e-mail account. If it is from him, fo back to the original message and delete it unread. Do this a few times and he might get tired of sending c-mails that are never opened/read.

Honestly, no there is not much that can be done. Much like that the juvenile who has been spamming this forum recently - as long as they can make a new profile at will there isn't much you can do. CM just isn't setup to deal with this sort of behavior.

For some reason that function does not work for me. Not sure why. It used to.

That person when he couldnt post anymore wrote me vile e-mail under 2 different accounts. I would post it here so you could see the vileness but I will abide by TOS. i will continue to block and report.

THank you everyone. I appreciate all the help and suggestions. I will take these steps and hopefully they will work and get rid of this once and for all. But I've got to say, stubbornness, though a good trait, can be a hard pill to swallow as well.

Good luck to you. Hopefully, when he no longer gets any response at all and all new profiles are deleted, he will leave you alone.
