poet55 -> Greatest (1/24/2010 3:58:17 PM)

1/24/2010   I just finished watching the Greatest Game Ever Played. It tells the story of Francis  Quimet and his 10 year old caddy Eddie and the 1913 United States Open Golf match. If there is a God and I say that because so many deny or doubt him, I for myself believe that there is “God” it is a matter of nomenclature, God,GreatSpirit,Master Intelligence, and what  you wish to call him. He I believe loves the worst in us if you look at his record for picking a winner he failed from Genesis through the death of Jesus his son. I was unaware of this poor golfer that won greatness and the world spotlight through his endeavor. These United States of America from 1775 till 2010 are a comparable story. We the people have beaten all the odds and accomplished more than any other nation on this earth. We if we do what we are doing now will beat the Obama I am not really a native  born American but I fooled you fools and am in the Whitehouse. But I see a bright future for us all if we will bear this shame and all pull together put the “ship of State” above greed an individual human want and need if we do this we can patch the holes and keep her floating and fighting. Francis  Quimet and his 10 year old golf caddy that skipped school are but one of millions of stories that have built out house that has held together for 200 + years.

Okay, I don't say this offten enough but......

There goes a portion of my life that I will regret spending on this when my winter comes.

1. Try to write in complete sentences.
2. Try to develop a theme and stick to it.
3. Try to be consistent.  For example, when you say that you consider G_d to be a matter of nomenclature, then don;t attribute decisions to him.
4. When you make sharply provocative points, explain them.  You state that G_d failed from the beginning of time through the entire Bible - any Christian, Jew, or Muslim would disagree with you.
5. Yes, I have heard that Obama is not a US citizen.  Yes, I think that's bullshit, as do most of the American people.  Considering that, you really should not present that as fact.

Why do you use "poet" as your username?  I think of poets as vain, fragile types who communicate well.  Your post is muscular, ill-informed, and almost incoherent.

heartcream -> RE: Greatest (1/24/2010 6:19:55 PM)

What's up with this spelling? " G-d"? I dont get it.

OP I could not understand your post at all. I dont know what you are talking about but it sounds very strange.

peppermint -> RE: Greatest (1/24/2010 6:33:41 PM)

Still six days until the next full moon.  Who woulda guessed?

ShaharThorne -> RE: Greatest (1/24/2010 6:39:17 PM)

Its improper to say G-d names, especially in the Judasm. G-d in Arabic is Allah

Now for the OP. Please don't start a religious war on here. We have enough to deal with that does not involve religion.

DesFIP -> RE: Greatest (1/24/2010 6:59:57 PM)

I disagree that all poets are vain and weak. Robert Frost certainly doesn't fit that description. But all of them are possessed of excellent communication skills. Alas the op has none of that. Nor apparently are his reading skills any better because if he was moderately skilled at reading comprehension he would have been able to read the various forum descriptions and known that this drivel belongs in politics and religion.

Kid, go back to school and study this time.

Wow that is intense I didnt know that. So Jewish people cant write the word God? They cant say the word God? I am not Jewish so I know not what I speak but my response is wow.

To me religion and God are mostly separate things. Can one start a war on the internet?

I dont mind people voicing their opinions about God.

Some Jews choose not to write G-d's name, others do. (You can guess where I fall on that, and it's a tradition I was taught and choose to continue.)  Here's some background as to why people do it, but there is no specific commandment, and there's quite a bit of debate going on about the necessity of not writing it out fully.

I understand the Republicans need motivated voters as we approach November, but I vote that the tent doesn't need to be quite this big.

DomMeinCT -> RE: Greatest (1/24/2010 9:43:20 PM)

*smiles*

Yes, there's a difference between what is traditional and what is forbidden.

(And like most things about religion, you'll get many answers and opinions to the same question.) [:D]

pahunkboy -> RE: Greatest (1/24/2010 11:49:04 PM)

We Dems don't want him.  Deal with it.

That said, it's evident that OP is not an Obama fan, but that does not mean that he's a Republican.  For all we know, his registered party is the Straight Talking American Government party (reference to Pat Paulsen) or the Bull Moose party (reference to Art Buchwald).
