Status: offline 		going to weekend events, along with Munches, play parties and such, because there we can totally be who we are a D/s couple with others that are like minded.

i wear my collar, my matching cuffs and sometimes matching leash proudly. It feels so wonderful to be free. How does everyone else feel about that?

Status: offline 		I've tried it plenty of times in the past. I've tried to get into them but I just find that I end up sitting in a corner twiddling my thumbs looking at the clock hoping it was time to leave soon if I had to wait for someone else or making small talk just to try and be sociable. I just find that I rarely have anything in common with people at such events and so for me they're just not enjoyable.

Status: offline 		i have absolutely nothing in common with anyone either with the exception of the person or people that i go with. i went to two munches throuout the years by myself and i felt just as you did.

i never go alone anymore.

Status: offline 		It all seems a bit bizarre to me.  Especially munches.  We went to a restaurant where we knew a munch was occuring to observe the dynamic of it.  Our meal was great.  The munch activity bored the fuck out of us.  I don't set aside hours a month to get together with people to talk about Gambling, Cigar Smoking, Drinking Bourbon or Eating .....I get together with them to participate in it.  The D/s activity we observed at two different dungeon settings was boring as shit too.  What I do to her is way more intense.

Status: offline 		One of my fondest memories is in getting bound up tightly, throwing a sweater on over it, then going out for pizza.  Sitting there all tightly bound, anticipating what would happen after dinner.  I don't need to be out and proud in order to enjoy this stuff.  Munches, no thanks.  But I do enjoy meeting with others in the lifestyle over drinks and dinner, we talk about many things, including the 'style.  It's all good, everyone should approach it in his/her own way.

Status: offline 		I'm not a fan of munches or public events. I'm discreet and private. These forums are actually a great way for me to talk about things in an anonymous way. My anonymity here is as much a personal need as a professional need. Also, I don't like mingling so much - I can deliver a speech in front of 10000 people without breaking a sweat because of the distance or have an intense one on one conversation but I don't do well in small groups with strangers.

I don't want to paint the image that I'm a socially awkward person or a snob. In fact, amongst friends, I'm quite the social butterfly. I just tend to have my guard up when I meet people. This works amazingly well for me in business negotiations where I've earned quite a bit of accolades. However, it doesn't go so well in social circles.

There is another dimension to public events that I found a little off-putting. Here in Montreal, many of the BDSM events are tightly linked to Fetish events (it's no surprise FetLife was born here). I tend to not be into the fetish aspects so much.

I have yet to be to a three day event that wasn't a fantastic experience.  I *always* learn something from the workshops held.  It's a great chance to meet folks from all over a particular region of the country, as well as visit old friends.  Also, a great opportunity to meet folks from CM.  I don't have to leave My leather at home like I do for the reg munch in the vanilla setting.  Plus, I get to be with both of My males and never have to think twice about it.

I've never needed a special weekend or event to be who I am.  Who I am has nothing to so with what accessories or outfits I wear.

i am sure it has its good; meeting with likemind people can be good ,, and also this is a safe environment for those that are making their first step into lifestyle .. if it please you Forever well i am glad to hear it !

Status: offline 		I can't get into munches, they're too "out" for me and I never feel comfortable there.  I do like to go to dungeon events occasionally and it's always best to go with someone.  It's very hard for a single male to go to things like that alone. 

Now, that being said, I do like limited and safe interaction with other D/s minded people to showcase my submissiveness, but for some reason a munch is not my scene.

Status: offline 		We enjoy dungeons as there is more room there than we have available in the motor home we live.  Gary is the more social one of the two of us.  I enjoy watching, but after a bit I'm all talked out and tend to go off by myself. 

Our favorite event is a week long campout called In The Woods.  We take the motor home and can take breaks from the people anytime we feel the need.  The dungeon is outdoors and people are using it both day and night as long as the mosquitoes are under control.  It's nice to see and be seen, to make contact with people we haven't seen for a year or two.

Status: offline 		Within the area i live in BC, there are well attended munches both of the dinner and brunch kind, you get out what you put into them, yes they are good for the first timers to come out and meet those in the community put a face to the name that they initially meet online, as well as catch up with friends and news, find out something or learn something. There are as well public and private parties a few times a month. i went to ITW a couple of years ago and had a great time, lots to see what with the vendors, the demos and the outdoor dungeon.

Status: offline 		I don't need to go to an event to be me but I do find that certain events energize me. I also love doing the dressy up bit.
I spend periods going to every event and party to not wanting to go at all.

To be honest, bar one particular club, I prefer private parties where anything can go off. I don't like the restrictions that are put on us in the main stream BDSM clubs.
