I am sorry to hear this but I thank you for sharing it.
I remember sharing some of his books with my partner. She would read them for the psychological aspects. I would read them for the more typical reasons. Then we would compare notes.
And they did do an excellent job of casting the TV series.
Just last month I picked up some of his work at sale table at the local library. I think I will go look for some more.

Too sad, I enjoyed his work immensely - way up there in my pantheon of the Masters of the Hard Boiled. 77 seems young these days to pass; a premature (book)end to his rich and rewarding contribution.

Did a quick Google; he still has two books to come out this year. Blue Eyed Devil (a Hitch and Cole novel), and Split Image, a Jesse Stone book.
No more Spensers, unless they find something.
