VideoAdminZeta -> RE: Does anyone ever use the chatroom function on CM's message boards? (1/13/2010 9:42:07 AM)

There was some activity in the message board chatrooms, especially when they were first introduced. The "Ask A Mistress" room was perhaps the most active. Since the video chat on the site has grown, though, there has been little activity in the message board rooms. You can create a password-protected room in the video chat, so you could chat with a group of people about some message board topic -- or anything else -- without the interruptions that might arise from being in the main room. You don't need a camera on your computer to participate in the video chat (you just won't be broadcasting an image). On the other hand, this offers a way for you to see the person you've been emailing, without either of you providing offsite contact information -- which might be useful for some users with privacy concerns. As I posted a few weeks ago, we're expanding the video chat room's functionality. Nina Hartley, Ernest Greene and Anna Mills did a demo in the room just before the new year, and I heard from Anna Mills yesterday, so we'll be setting up some more events. Either I or Sigma will post about upcoming video demos soon.
