Imagination plays a huge part in what we are about.
Whilst I agree with what Desfip has said about the engineering, I also wonder at how many boring bondage acts I have watched and taken part in with an expert ropee who's engineering skills are second to none but his imagination is zero. I couldn't agree more with this.  I would never suggest that without the mechanics of the skill, anybody should just attempt whatever they come up with in their own head.  The 'how' absolutely has to be a part of it as well.

Also, I've seen the nerf flogger.  I thought it was cool as hell.


ETA, I may be a bit biased on this particular subject.  I think, at least in part, it's that spark of imagination that lights Me up about topping.  I just can't imagine not having that and have My own thoughts on those who don't.

Thanks for a fabulous topic LadyPact.

I would say that imagination is at the very core and foundation of my play. Not having attended many seminars or play parties, I pretty much do what I do my own way. I've had compliments because people that I've played with find it refreshing from the "usual" FemDomme scenes. I had to dream up a lot of my wickedeness. Also, books, accounts from others and even some films inspired me.

You talk about seeing objects from the corner of your eye. I remember going to IKEA with a boy and having a "who will find the best pevertable" challenge when the real objective was really looking at lighting ;-)

I think at the height of my sadistic desires getting unleashed was discovering predicament bondage and other related activities. After that, my mind went racing in a million and one directions about how I could built situations to put submissives into deliciously evil predicaments.

Status: offline 		My imagination is critical to play, as that is the only place anything happens. I just wish my imagination was better at remembering the names I make up for my fictional partners. It has a cooling effect on the fantasy when I am rebuked for calling Trixie, Candy. Who's Candy?, demands Trixie. I just look down at my feet. The spell is broken. I know the fix is to just call everyone, Baby, but that doesn't work for me. It makes my fantasies too routine. It also reminds me of Babe Didrikson, and that makes me self conscious about exercising more.

Great topic.  i agree with you completely; imagination is key.

IMO, D/s relationships are no different than vanilla relationships.  Over time, they get stale unless we continually work to keep them fresh.  Nothing keeps a relationship fresher than a good imagination.  After all, the most important sex organ lies between our ears.

Given the choice between a stunningly beautiful Domme with no imagination, or an average looking Domme with a great imagination, i'll take the latter.  i've been down the former road far too many times (yes, i was shallow during my youth), and have found myself bored to tears.  Good looks only go so far, but a good imagination knows no limits.

Status: offline 		Actually I would say that right along with dozens of other fetishes I have.. That I have a "creative and imaginative" sexual fetish. There is almost nothing that I am doing/thinking that I'm not also dreaming of countless erotic ways of doing whatever it is I'm doing.

I am highly imaginative and creative and for there to be any kind of connection inside or outside of play creativity is a must. Status: offline 		I gather up inspiration where ever it strikes me, and I feel that imagination is key.  I've been fortunate enough to see other's creativity and that feeds mine at times, from sometimes the most unexpected places.  When I'm making a toy or thinking of what deviltry can be had (though I've been pretty mellow for a little while on the deviltry...), it is very thrilling to see it all come together or be appreciated.  For the longest while, I was in a "kinky-geeky overdrive" mode of imagination...couldn't go into DomDepot or over to Walmart without feeling guilty afterwords while going through there feverish with a lustful and perving eye and trying out things to use later.  It's all good...

Hello Bran,
I so love the word "inspired"...

To get inspired is a skill like any other.  One must practice.  By being open to something new and finding what might work.  As you talk to others, read, and open your mind, imagination grows. 

Take, for example, the idea of a cane.  All it really is is a dowel of some sort.  A long stick.  What other things are long sticks?  Things around you?  Rulers, cooking spoons, hairbrushes, the plastic on the side of a report cover, chopsticks, back scratchers, a candy cane, tubes from wrapping paper, etc.  They will each have a different sound, feel, purpose, but the experimentation is fun.  You try something, figure out if it works, and keep going from there.

Even Einstein said that Imagination is more important than Knowledge because knowledge is limited and imagination "embraces the whole world".

Status: offline 		Yes Ma'am, i think imagination helps in creating new ideas and implementing them in real life. i do  like to imagine and fantasize new things and exchange my fantasies with my Mistress. i love and adore my Mistress and i will not hesitate if she uses me in any newer torture situations seeking how i react. i wish to explore and exceed my limits and i am sure and know that my Mistress is best in it.
