Sir and I are planning to attend SELF in June in Atlanta. We have never been to this kind of event (We attended FETCON, but we think that had a different context and mission). So, my question (s): Have you been? What can we expect in terms of the attendees? What can we expect in terms of the quality of the workshops? Do you think this is a worthwhile event for a monogamous couple who already have their own version of WIITWD? What is the dress code for the various events (ie; what is "cabaret best"?) We have explored the website, but would still love to hear from cm'ers of your experiences.

Hello hijera. I'd first like to wish a Happy New and your Master. I have attended SELF the last three years. I enjoyed Myself each and every time. Even the mention of it here makes Me start to think that I may want to attempt going this year, even though I am now on the other coast. You can expect a high attendance when compared to any other major event of the same stature. Yes, hundreds of leather and other kinky folks all converged in one place for three days. The workshops have always been quite good. I do not know who is on the presenter's list this year. I have some personal favorites that I have seen in years past. Check your program. Do not miss Archer and Elegant, Sir Top and slave bonnie, and Master Larry and slave barb, TenderDom and MsMoneyPenny. If you'd like, I'll research the program for you and anyone that I have seen present before, I will be happy to make recommendations. It is absolutely an event where monogamous, het couples are welcomed! Do not think these types of events are for gay leathermen only. You are going to find all mix of folks there. They come from all over the southeast region. The dress code is rather standard for a leather event. The hotel does ask that we be courteous of other guests in common areas, such as the lobby and the outdoor smoking areas. Within the conference room section, most fetish attire is acceptable, with limited nudity. Please feel free to ask additional questions here or on the other side. I'll be happy to tell you anything that I know.

We. have attened Beyond Leather in Florida for the last two years and are going again in April. We found that EVERYONE is welcome and EVERY type of relationship and Gender is there. Dress for us is vanilla in the hotel and public areas. They are very strict on this, but you can wear what you like in the private rooms. Everyone is friendly at our event and we look forward to seeing some familiar faces when we go back this year. i hope that the two of you have a wonderful time.

SELF = Southeast Leatherfest as for presenters, there seems to be quite a few texas faces this year (i just glanced over the list)...Ms. Solitaire and Artemis - I have never seen Ms. Solitaire present, but i have talked to her a few times over the years and she is quite a wealth of information...Obsidian and namaste are regular legends around here...do not miss Master Jim and slave marsha - i might go now, just to see them present (they are owners of the event i usually go to and therefore do not present).............as for non-texas presenters...heck i might go just to meet slinky tigress, but i have known her online for almost 10 years (shh don't tell anyone i was in bdsm chatrooms when i was 17) and highly respect her opinion...i don't know if i am remembering correctly, but she might have used to post here...Malik and Cathy are also excellent presenters...as well as Master Larry and slave barb as LP mentioned.... as for what to wear...i have seen everything from jeans and a t-shirt (me) to leather-wear to fetish gear in the workshops and in the special events...well you may see just about anything there...cabaret's best...i tend to think of the movie Cabaret and tuxes and evening gowns...or was that suits and cocktail dresses, oh no, i need to watch it again...anyway...that is they mean you're in the cabaret...and then it could mean....well just about anything...good luck! i suggest getting on fetlife and joining the self group...you can usually ask questions of people knowlageable about the current year (like the people organizing it) there... edited to add: OH OH OH...you HAVE to check out Vi Johnson's Leather Library...if you're into the history of the lifestyle...which i think everyone should at least have a passing curiosity in....

Thank you, LadyPact. A recommendation from you means a lot. We have actually met Sir Top and slave Bonnie at our local munch and they were not only very nice and interesting, we could see their level of commitment to the community. Forever, thank you for reminding me about Beyond Leather- I will research that event as well for the possibility of us attending. Chelle, thanks for the input- we will check out the library. I was curious as to what it was.... At FetCon, the entire hotel was taken over by the event. It was great because we could wear what we wanted everywhere. I'm a bit unsure of how you wear fetish to the events when you have to walk through the public areas of the hotel to get there....

The hotel layout actually makes it very simple. Access to the elevators allows you one way to turn to the conference area and the other way to the lobby. Fetish won't be an issue, as long as nudity isn't involved. Any outfit that is pictured in My profile would be perfectly acceptable.
