In real life, and online, I compliment people if I like a certain thing about them. It can be anything - shoes, clothes, their smile, a certain hair-do. I like to compliment people, because I always feel really good about myself when someone compliments me, so why not 'share the love'? I've noticed recently that men that I compliment have taken it as a come on. I complimented the gas station attendant on his shirt (it was a joke, it's a uniform and I've seen it before and yellow is my fav color) and he laughed and made a joke back, and then asked if I 'had a man'. Yes I do, but he's still rockin the yellow. A guy at another gas station at the pump had a Jeep exactly like mine, and I struck up a convo about how nice his looked compared to mine, and he offered to come over and help me work on it. Joke or not, that was creepy. I sent a quick email to a guy on CM and told him I liked his jaw line and he wrote back saying 'Too bad you're so far away, or I guess it's only a three hour drive.' I also complimented an older man on his profile and he wrote back asking if I'd ever wanted to submit to let him know. That question kind of weirded me out, and didn't really fit with the personality his profile had projected. When I compliment women they never see it as a pick up or something. Or if they do, they aren't obvious about it. 'Thanks' 'You too' or 'Well I love your shoes!' is usually what I hear. So why do men see a woman talking to them as a come on? It kind of makes me wonder if they're desperate and they think anything a female says to them must mean she's interested. Although I kind of like the idea that they think I'm so damn cool that they want to know more about me :P Most importantly, I've run into lots of males into BDSM who take a compliment or a joke as me expressing interest in them. It just might be me, but why is the concentration so high in the kink world?
