Welcome.

How to meet people on CM...well, depends on what side of CM you want to meet people from. If you want to meet people on the profile side, be patient. You have an interesting well-written profile, that's half the battle. Try not to fall for every hottie tottie that sends you a email with a perky pic and a promise to chat if only you follow her to a different site.
Your best bet will be to mingle on this side...the message boards. Lurk for a bit...do some reading and get a feel for the place before you decide to go posting mad. Given some of the interests you list, I would suggest you take a look at the Politics and Religion forum along with General BDSM and Poll & Random Stupidity (that's where the fun is, tbh).
Take your time...enjoy the ride...ask questions...try not to whine (you'll find a host of threads full of "fakes and scammers" rants and see how they're responded to)...be sure to use the search feature and have fun.

Carrie has given you good advice. (Especially the "don't whine" part).

You may want to look into finding a munch in your area, meet folks that away, as well.
