Granted, this site is open to just about anyone to read profiles, and set up one or more of your own.
I was just wondering how you ladies would feel to see your entire profile word for word copied by a pro domme in New York.

On one hand, I'd be rather put out, but then the obnoxiously positive part of me would go down the trail that there was probably nothing I could do about it. That karma would bring her what she has coming, and that "duplication is the highest form of flattery".

That said, if she's if she's not smart enough to write her own profile, likely she'll not be working as a pro for very long?

I try not to get out of sorts about things that in five years from now won't make a big difference.

As SthrnCom4t said, I would initially be insulted. I would probably contact her and tell her that I thought it was highly unprofessional of her to steal someone else's profile without permission. Then I would get over it. A profile isn't a literary work of art after all, and probably each of us says things that are similar to other profiles.

As was already said though, if she couldn't even take the time to write her own profile, it is likely she won't be in business long.

I once had a male Dom take my entire profile on bondage.com back in 2003 and just change the genders around. I found that quite annoying.

What we have to realise is that this is the Web and anything that we post on it is subject to being stolen. I figure if my words are helping people, I'll just suck it up and hope that someone notices this and calls them on it. It is afterall a very small online bdsm world ;-)

It depends on what they copied. Personally I couldn't give a toss about a profile on the Internet, but if it's published works, then I do. Sadly, this sort of thing goes on way too often and it's common place thanks to the Internet. Funnily enough, I'm an amateur writer and have seen my published works posted for illegal download on various share sites almost monthly. In all senses, these people should really try and be more inventive with their "work". If there is one thing that shouldn't be tolerated at all, its copy cats. You just have to inform the site admins that your work is being "copycated". I have had nothing but good encounters with site administrators. I just contact the site and ask them to take it down. Usually they're good about that. But "copycatting" is ramped thanks to the wonderful reality of the Internet. Here is a factual enlightenment on this issue: As soon as you write something down that content belongs to you. You don't have to officially copyright your work, because you immediately own the copyright once you write it. But meh, you got to learn to live with it if you want to use the Internet dating sites.

Would be nice if copy right laws really did work that way, but they don't. No more than simply mailing yourself the item that you wrote makes it legitimately copywrited. Most sites that allow people to publish something they write on the site, as part of the TOS, also hold the right to reprint your works at their option. The major difference is that they aren't trying to pass the work off as their own.

My initial reaction would be to be pissed off. Eventually I would find the humor in someone proving to the world that they are a "wannabe" instead of a pro. It's much better to have people think you are an idiot than to open your keyboard and remove all doubt.

I found mine on another site that another Domme had copied and pasted word for word. I messaged her and thanked her for the wonderful compliment, saying that imitation was the greatest flattery of all. Her profile was completely changed within hours!

It happens, it's irritating. Is the effort of doing much beyond what MommaDomme1 did worth the effort? Probably not. It is nice to read that confrontation was met with a positive response.

Mine was copied verbatim by another male sub, once. I was alerted to it by a femdom friend. She, and a few others, cmailed him with their protests and embarrassed him into removing it.

If she's inarticulate enough to need to steal other people's material, she won't be able to keep up the pretense past a few messages-the people she is writing to are likely to notice that she isn't the person who wrote her profile text, which would surely make the theft kind of self-defeating...

Even if your profile text made a fantastic impression on her readers, she would still have to keep them interested herself.
