lucylucy -> New Year's Resolutions (12/11/2009 7:00:15 AM)

I make (and keep) New Year's resolutions every year. I'm in the process of coming up with mine, which I usually divide into categories, like work/career, health/fitness, parenting, relationships, etc. I put a lot of thought into mine because I WILL keep them, so they have to be feasible and things I am really committed to.

What are some of the resolutions you're making for 2010? Do you usually keep your resolutions?

To remember exactly where that secret dungeon I enslaved my neighbor Marge in is located.

Slow and easy breaths Marge, slow and easy breaths.

My new years resolution will be  not to make one.
After 30+ years of doing the "I will give up smoking this year"thing, which I never quite made into a resolution.
I can cast it aside, today I have been smoke free for 3 months, so I think I'm not due for another resolution till 2012

me either.

CallaFirestormBW -> RE: New Year's Resolutions (12/11/2009 9:06:40 AM)

I feel about New Years' resolutions like I do about all other kinds of promises and vows... once time comes into the picture, circumstance can waylay even the best-laid plans... and I refuse to make promises that I can't assure that I'll be able to keep... even to myself. Therefore, while I have -goals- for the coming year, I don't have a single resolution.

My goals:

Lose 100 lbs by May 31
Relocate to North Carolina by June 10
Obtain new job to facilitate continued progress on my personal path
Get my first seminary class through Novitiate graduation by October 31
Complete both novels-in-progress no later than November 30

For me, Start Smoking!

I am with the "I don't do resolutions" crowd.

Just not my style.

LookieNoNookie -> RE: New Year's Resolutions (12/11/2009 5:00:29 PM)

I resolve to get up every day and go to sleep every night.

I resolve to eat more steak (unless I can only afford hamburger, at which point....I'll add cheese).

(And sour cream).

I resolve to be naked more often (but only when the lights are out, all known light sources are duct taped shut and there is no one possibly capable of seeing me do so).

I resolve to pet my cats backwards at least twice a month.

I resolve to visit the local donut shop more often, and eat only zero calorie maple bars (and apple fritters, and chocolate covered sprinkles).

I resolve to read more every day (unless it intereferes with the aforementioned donuts).

I resolve not to get maple bar goo or apple fritter and even chocolate covered sprinkles goo on anything I read.

(Unless it intereferes with efficient donut eating).

These are my 2010 resolutions.

barelynangel -> RE: New Year's Resolutions (12/11/2009 6:08:17 PM)

My resolution for 2010 is constant and neverending improvement. Iwill identify specifically where i want to improve and set some ideas out on how i can improve and create plans for each area of my life. i don't make vows to myself or promises other than the simply improving and working towards what i want to change as a whole concept. Little by little it will gget done.

The areas i am looking at are -- health and fitness, work, relationships/socializing, my house and finances. What the improvements will be and the plans that go with same are in the works to be finalized by midnight January 1.

I think you and I do almost the same thing, only I formalize it into a list of resolutions, which helps me stay accountable to myself and focused, and you don't . . . which makes me think you are more focused and accountable than I am.

Me too.  Got enough stress in my life already without setting more deadlines for myself.

Firm up my arteries, they've been getting soft lately.
