Ideas needed for scarf - 12/9/2009 12:24:50 PM

1. I put away my winter clothes so well that now I can not find my scarfs.   Where did I put them?

2. The blue scarf that I let out year round is now missing.  I think I took it off when I was warm, where is it?

3.  Lets figure I lost all of my scarfs.  I have alot of clothes.  I am looking for ideas to maybe cut up a shirt or something to use to keep warm.   ANy ideas on how to or how not to?   High winds are coming- so- there really isnt time to fight crowds at the stores- and the budget is tight.

The "couch" is a blue-green van recliner that sets across the room.  It is in the corner of my eye all the time I am online!!!  Truly I looked in all my rooms, and storage- and for one person there is alot.

It is perplexing that I seen the scarf only minutes after I posted this.  :-)

I do believe in such a thing as vibes.   (neg or pos)

Either way- I am happy to have found it.   Now I can at my leisure- buy a couple more when I am out and about- and not be rushed to right away. 

This is a big deal because- I do save money on my heat with it... and I prefer to not have to move a room mate in.

Status: offline 		You can try Freecycle online, Most dollar stores have scarves, and so does goodwill and the like.  If all else fails, if you have a skull cap, you could cut that open to make a mock turtle-neck like device to slip over your head.

Status: offline 		Actually..you're better off covering your head. Leg warmers and gloves with exposed fingetips too (is there a specific name for those?).
The hat is the most important though...lots of body heat lost through your brain.

That is true.   Sweat pants can be good.  :-)

Status: offline 		I've never worn a scarf in my life because you have to weigh up the comfort it gives you versus the inherent risk that someone will strangle you with it: like in the films. You see if someone wants to strangle me they are going to need to bring their own equipment but you people above are making it easy for that person following you in the shadows.

I never seen that in a film.

Neck ties would be the same.    As would shoe laces.

I worked in group homes for 5 years.        So let me ask you my dear man. 

How many knives are in your home?

Status: offline 		For budgetary/safety reasons we only use those free plastic ones you get in restaurants.

Well done meat is just not an option with these knives.

Status: offline 		next time you are in a craft store, buy a 'knit around', then while you are watching tv, you can turn out unlimited scarves and caps, leg warmers, throw pillows for your couch, decorateve 1950 style toilet papter covers, ect. ect.
You can pick up yarn at goodwill or on freecycle. this is really a money saving venue. :)

Status: offline 		Not only is knitting a good idea, but if you have a sewing machine you can make scarves even faster out of just about any lengthy piece of fabric (leg of a worn out pair of jeans, arms of an old sweatshirt, etc). Sewing is probably easier to learn, and even if you don't have a machine you can do it the old fashioned way, hand sew (you just need to sew the edges so they don't fray if you want a 'basic' scarf). But, with knitting, you can make some really lovely scarves.

You keep your thermostate set to artic.
You live in the artic.
You are cold and want a scarf, but are willing to stay cold till you can get one on freecycle or at that rare winter yard sale.
Your living room couch came out of a VW van, and is some indefinable, blueish greenish color.

I can't believe my luck! Do you already have a subbie, or are you accepting 'sub'missions?
