Workers at one of these places- we asked if they would take the shot.  They had to submit a form yes- or no.

The nurses that had NY forcing this on them- they backed off- the state withdrew it requirement.   In any given year about 1/2 nurses take a flu shot.

If so many folks don't want it, why are there shortages?

Marketing.    Sort of like the cabbage patch doll.

Incidentally the plague has killed a bunch of people in the Ukraine, India also has some odd deaths.  There is no cure for the plague.

Do you mean bubonic, pneumonic, or septicemic plague?  That is curable with antibiotics.

The lungs turn black- you burn up.  130 degrees, the lungs fill with blood.  100% fatal.  No cure.  No vaccine.

No one's body temp can get to 130 degrees.  Jesus.  You're dead by 107.

The plague pahunk is talking about, has a report that internal lung temperature reached 130 degrees, causing the lungs to fill with blood.

My point is that it can't happen. It's physiologically impossible.

Your liver is the hottest part of the body, due to all the metabolic activity there. You die around 107 because your liver is at an even higher temp, and it simply gives up the ghost.  There are random cases of folks who survive 107, but they are rare.

Even the liver won't make it to 130.  And when you're dead, the temp in the body starts to fall.

Maybe something is lost in translation.

They use centigrade or Celsius not Fahrenheit over there....

Maybe my sister is having things pushed on her.   It happens.

My comment on thinning the herd was a bad attempt at a joke.   In general we are very blessed to have modern medicine.

Those opposing the healthcare reform should take note that things like this will happen if all that matters is the financial bottom-line. People can't complain about this if they have accepted the principle that those that can afford it get medical privileges such as treatment on a shortlist before the rest of us.

It's healthcare capitalism at its finest no?

Health care is billed at per action rendered.   Not at the solving of the ailment.  So the incentive to CURE is not quite there.

Congress has been in a rush for a bunch of legislation, any time they rush it- that makes me suspicious.

Prior to 1971  HMOs were not legal here. I suspect the whole health care bill is all about shifting costs onto someone else.   (shock)   But that gets back to cure the ailment vs deliver a service.  So based on that- a fix is unlikely.
