When my son was born , I made the decision to have a tubal ligation preformed after his delivery. My nurses all tried to talk me out of it. Said I was to young, and that someday I would regret it, I was 22 years old at the time. My OB response to me and to them was no one had to raise my children but me, so the choice to have anymore was mine alone. I have never regreted the decision to have my tubes tied until recently. I have never wanted more children until recently. I have been doing research on reverse tubal ligations. I have read site after site and have thought about consulting my personal doctor but I am curious. Has anyone ever had their tubal reversed ? If so where you able to get pregnant afterwards? Where there any complications in your pregrancy because of having the tubal reversed?

Have no idea I'd assume it simply depends...but to me this article covered it pretty well. Good luck.

I think the best bet would be to ask your personal doctor.. not to mention that they could more than likely do a fertility test after a certain amount of time after the reversal of the ligation.

As was explained to me many years ago when I had it done, the type of surgery, will make a difference also. Almost 30 years have passed and fortunately I never once, regretted the decision.

You may wish to double check. I was asked by the doctor which procedure I wanted, I specifically said "cut with section removed"  and I found out 8 years ago that I really got clamps with nothing cut or removed.

Here a thought, rather than going through an unneccessary medical proceedure, which may or may not work. Have you considered adoption?

That is something we haven't even discussed.

I had a tubal when I was in my late 20's and have never regretted it nor had any desire to reverse it so I can't really answer your questions about a reversal.
I did however have mine clamped which is what most doctors give to young women since there is a chance they may change their minds and it's the easiest to have reversed and a good chance of still having children. So it all comes down to if yours were clamped, tied or burned and how long ago the tubal was done.

At the age of 20 (I had been married for 2 years) I was pregnant and told that both my husband and I carried the gene for Spina Bifida we chose to have my tubes clamped at birth. It turned out that our daughter was fine, no Spina Bifida but we had the tubes done anyway. We both agreed that we could not in good consience take the chance of having a child who may never have a normal life. We don't regret this decision, and still stand by it. Every woman has the right to have a child or not, it's her decision, it was just the best decision for us to not take the chance.

I had my tubes done after the birth of my third. He was supposed to cut, remove a section and burn the ends. When she was 2 I got pregnant and miscarried.
I had a different ob by then and he told me mine had been banded, not cut or burned or sectioned. I'd say you first need to make SURE of the procedure that was done to you. He also told me that having a tubal reversal ups your chance of tubal pregnancy and can make it harder to conceive. I decided against having it done.

Also, adoption is a good point...if you choose to consider it. There are ALOT of children out there who need good solid loving homes

I have had a tubal pregnancy since my tubes have been tied, that is not something I want to go through ever again. The thing that I like about the adoption idea is that child is choosen but adoptions can be very expensive at least from what I have heard.
