( ps. is there a forum given over to how the site works?..)

I can see people in a list or search, but some of them I'm not able to see their profiles? Does this mean I'm blocked?

I notice that this happens with some users who I've never seen or clicked before....first click on them and it just repeats the home page I'm on, doesn't say anything about blocked or anything.

I'm confused about how this works....from both sides of the fence!

I know I've been blocked by one or two scammers I've wound up....but am curious about why I can't see profiles of folks I've never talked to or even clicked on?

When I click on a name here on the forums and I can't see a profile, I always assumed the person didn't have one. Some people like to chat on the forums but don't hang on sign on the other side.

Some people have their profiles hidden. If they aren't interested in getting mail, or they want to take time off of the forums for a bit.

It's CM's version of an invisibility cloak!

In addition to the first bunch of queries (and again on the main site, not forums) why are some folk names in bold ?

Okay, color me confuzzled, but I'm not sure what you mean by being able to see their name but they don't have a profile over on the CM side (technically this side is CollarChat). I've never had that experience, if I'm understanding what you're saying . . . .

Being blocked won't keep you from viewing the short profile or opening the full profile of the person who blocked you, it'll just keep you from being able to private message that person . . . ...

& hiding is a one-way process; if you hide someone, they can still see your profile & etc . . . .. They just won't show up on your home page search list or your 'Viewed Full Profile' page or etc . .. .

What people are telling you about the forums is true for the personals too. When you click a name in the list and you don't see their profile it means they've hid it. Once in a blue moon it means they've just deleted it. I think they had to have it turned on before for them to show up in the list but I am not sure. Some people go on and off like lightbubs, that way. Maybe it's a scammer thing? I get annoyed when one of them writes me. I want to see their profile before I open the email.

thanks for the replies.

Again let me state the questions refer to the main site only...nothing to do with the forums here!

I'll try and explain again - the main issue is that I see a person in a search list, click on their name, and get no profile - the page I'm on just refreshes. It's as though they've hidden their profile, but are still active enough to show up in a search list. Does that make sense?

This can happen with random profiles which I've never seen before, so unlikely that the user has blocked or hidden me.
