Mine's 19 now and fights like hell when I put him in the stroller, but the pacifier helps.

All in all it makes for a pretty intense workout.

You can always get a "jogging stroller" for your 2-yr old. Much easier to run that way. Get a cheap bike on Craigslist & buy a toddler seat and off you go!
an FYI...you might want to check the helmet law in your area with a toddler seat

Don't check the law. Get helmets for both of you immediately. And reflective tape.

One of the scariest experiences I ever had while driving was coming up on an entirely nonreflective bicycle pulling a baby jogger. If I hadn't needed to go pick up my own kid, I would have called the police to come and ticket the idiot for endangering the welfare of a child.

Now that's a good idea!  I've done that w/my grandums and we've had a blast!

"Mental image"?  Isn't that what Mr. Jim does when you go out w/him?

one good thing is you really don't find a helmet sold by itself for a wee one. They all come with knee and elbow pads.

And you're right Celeste...that was a total idiot!

pilates is a good stretching/ strength and toning workout it will help you maintain your body.

I do interval training myself but I'm trying to lose weight. So I typical do twenty five minutes on the treadmill where I walk moderately fast for 90 seconds then I run for 60 rinse and repeat. I usually kick in the incline up to 9 after about 5 minutes and set the speed at 5.5 and then when I go back to my walk drop the incline one and up the speed 0.1 till my incline reaches zero. I love it. I feel so good after a workout like this. It's working well. As far as my strength and toning. I use a body ball, hand weights sometimes my own body weight. My personal trainer said pushups are like the essential of your workout. You can do girly pushups it doesn't make a difference you have to start building a decent muscle base first as long as you are working your arms you are good to go. I also do a lot of squats and mountain climbers. Then just basic core work although the cardio workout doubles as a core workout. I work my triceps with one of those stretchy bands, but the best thing is that body ball. You can do amazing things with just that.

And let me tell you what it does wonders for your libido. I never feel sexier than after I've had a good hard workout!

Getting exhausted easily could be a variety of things.  Dehydration is one, so drink lots of fluid whilst you exercise. Your diet is important and without know what you consume, it might play a factor.  If Orion permits, you can always message me on the other side.  Poor posture (causing cramp) and breathing can exhaust you too.   Yoga is good for posture and breathing.  It's cool to use as a relaxer, but for exercise I wouldn't recommend it.  It's more a centring thing - good if you suffer with a bad back or rolled shoulders or just want to be 'quiet'.  Starting with breathing exercises first and ending with them is a good way to warm up and wind down.

Pilates is more physical and better for exercise, unless you have back issues - then consult your doctor (if you do it at home) or go to a class and consult the trainer.

Walking or power walking is good.  If you really get into it then you can buy walking sticks to help aid your movement.

If you are set in doing it in your own home and you have a wii, then the active games are fun!

Dancing is another good form of exercise, but you really need classes for that.
edit to add - belly dancing you can do alone at home - there are websites and videos you can follow - but if you join a class you get to make friends!

the.dark.

Yep, I will second what  .dark. said, what she says is good, and makes a whole lot of sense. My history is, well, I tried the Gym, weights and all, but it was not for me, Iyengar yoga is good, but you definately need instruction and a buddy in that, pilates, done that one an exercise ball helps immensely, but now I believe I have found my perfect exercise, which can be done at home and requires no props. It is what the .dark. mentiioned, bellydancing. I do it in class, and at home as a daily exercise, I do the warm up and cool down routine at least, no more than ten minutes. If I am feeling energetic, I will practice some of the moves, or try to piece parts of choreographies together, but on the whole, day to day, is just the warm ups and cool downs. What I personally have noticed these past eight months of doing it, is firstly I have not got bored and dropped out, the usual route  I seem to take to stop things. I now have control of my lower back issues and I seem to have shed some useless body material, namely hips, as my dance belt needs adjusting. The increased fitness, and body mobility is working in other ways and  I am now wondering, why the hell I didm't take up dancing long ago, for it is the perfect exercise, and one is having fun doing it.

daintydimples -> RE: Exercises at home! (10/28/2009 7:00:59 AM)

Two of my favorites are yoga and belly dancing. Both of these types of exercise will teach you about how to move your body. Yoga will keep you limber; belly dancing will keep you strong.

Although I would suggest a class, until you can afford that, do a search on YouTube. You will find lots of how to videos.

Also, if you are serious about belly dancing, you need to get your tummy strong. Slowly work up to being able to do 200 belly crunches a day.

Best of luck.

While I dont need to exercise to loose weight, I do however want to start keeping fit. I also know that exercise enhances your sexual stamina and increases your libido so to speak.. stimulates the blood flow ect..

There are many things in play that i would love to do but cant because im not flexible enough or in some cases my body strength defeats me, I tend to get cramps in my legs if i stay in a possition to long.. which isnt even that long at times. I also get exausted so quickly where i just cant go on.

Any tips on home exercises that I could do? What do you do at home to keep fit? Does yoga help?

Your help would be mucho apreciated[:D]

Andi x

Callanetics is awesome. It is a system of isometric and Pilates type exercises that were created by a woman name Callan Pinckney over twenty years ago.
Not only does it improve your flexibility and stamina immensely but it will tone your body better than anything I  have ever tried.  It is difficult to do many of the exercises, they are physically difficult, but if you stick with it, you will see marked improvement and be amazed at how flexible you become.

popeye1250 -> RE: Exercises at home! (10/30/2009 7:11:12 PM)

Walking for 30 minutes is always good! Get one of those backpacks that you stuff the kid into and it's even better, you'll get a better workout with 25 pounds of screaming, mean, fussing baby on your back to strengthen your back and leg muscles as well!
I belong to a gym and do treadmill training for 40-45 minutes and then an hour or so of differant weight machines for a full body workout.
But, I still like to walk around the neighborhood or on the beach.

MissAnimus -> RE: Exercises at home! (11/2/2009 5:09:42 AM)

My exercise ball was super cheap, I think I spent less than $10 for it. I replaced my desk chair with the ball and it's great although sometimes I get a little too silly bouncing on it.
