We get a lot of mail at times, especially from submissive males.  There are two questions we ask that most of the time seem to make people disappear back into cyberspace without another word.  The first is, "Ideally what would you like to see happen for you?", the next is, "Why a couple?".  About 95% of the time that ends the conversation.

We figure for the most part it is just people wanting to get their jollies off and they aren't interested in an actual conversation.  That is good because it certainly helps weed out a lot of fluff.

Is there anything you ask when someone starts a conversation with you that seems to end the talk?

LOL  usually when I have someone messages me wanting to serve me,  one of my first questions is " You do realize that I am not monogamous?"  It's funny how 95% of them quickly decide not to reply back  muhahahahaha

Mine tend to be things like.

No, I am not going to give you my yahoo information. Tell me more about yourself here.

What type of situation do you see yourself thriving in?

What does submission/slavery mean to you?

What are your interests outside of kink?

How do you envision being able to serve me from (insert far away location)?

Or for many.......You did read my profile and understand that I am (insert main point that I feel will make us not compatible) right?

Usually the, "Yes, that's me in the Avatar" works wonders.

Now Chia, that would just earn you a new home with me!! Every time I see your avatar I smile. It reminds me of the Muppet Show.......which I love btw.

That is very similar to, "Ideally what would you like to see happen for you?".  Amazing how that tends to make people go silent.

Not to mention that people who send their yahoo in the first email or ask to move to messenger the second time you speak get deleted right then.

A polite form letter I send out requesting they read the whole profile, decide if we're compatible, & then contact me tends to thin out the numbers. After that point, I generally ask what specifically interested them about me from my profile .. . . That thins them down even more, gets it all down to a more manageable level . . . . . .

But the numero uno thing I did to shift the relevance of the emails I exchange on CM? Start posting regularly to the message boards . .. . . . Very little of my cmail is irrelevant anymore, mostly it's cmails from other message board posters & is thus of interest to me . . . .

i have a list of questions i compiled that i might pick from if the conversation doesn't have a natural flow to it. that is generally my preference and i know after the first exchange of notes between the prospect and myself if we'll have that kind of energy or not. it has been quite a while since i've had to resort to doing this. but these are a few that are usual deal breakers. the responses are quite telling.

what advice would you give to a woman seeking an owner? do you follow your own advice when choosing a girl?

what can you do as a person to become a better master and owner?

dominance affords an opportunity to shield one's emotions when uncomfortable. how do you address this when sensitive situations or topics arise?

are you ready for the relationship you spoke of?

i have never seriously considered anyone that i have posed the above questions to. i found us to be incompatible in other ways even if the responses were favorable. i've had extensive q & a sessions with another and thought it was good in many respects. there was also another scenario where none of that occurred. we simply conversed instead and i felt a greater sense of compatibility with this person than all the others.

Wow, that's a great list of questions, & usefully generalizable outward to other dynamics & orientations & etc . . . . . I'm tempted to start my own demonic point system just to give you some for sharing this with us. Thanks!

& I bet you do get interesting info from these, whether it deliberately comes out of the other's mouth or not . ... . .

"Have you read my profile" generally works rather well for me.

To second Davan and LaT's answers, I also have another one that does the trick.

"What part of 'local' was difficult for you to understand?"
