Hi My name is ocean jewel alot of you know me already and this is not really an introduction I just wasn't sure where to post it. Sorry. I felt it was something that needed to be said tho so here goes.......
Our Community
I have been watching what seems to be becoming a frightening trend recently. We are already a community that is looked on by the outside world as awful, sick and perverted.
We are SUPPOSED adhere ourselves to higher standards then most for this reason and because; face it folks, we are in a dangerous lifestyle. We tout words like honesty, trust, commitment, honor, protection etc as the cornerstones of what we believe. Yet I have watched in recent times that we have become lackadaisical at best in actually DOING anything about the wrongs we see being done.
I have seen instances where people who are supposed to be leaders of our community lie about who they are; lead on submissives ,,,,,and dominants too,,,when they are found out nobody stands up to say "Hey this is WRONG"!!!
I have seen people who are known liars, thieves, known criminals and doing things like targeting our young under the guise of mentoring. I have seen people barred from groups for causing trouble (yes it does happen) and then welcomed with open arms into another one where they do the same thing. They join our groups and are welcomed because no one want to be un-politically correct or they are afraid it will cause upheaval in their groups. Or they won't have a group at all. Is this honest or honorable? Why doesn't anyone do anything about it? OH there is plenty of griping about how wrong it is and how it hurts our whole community but NOTHING is done. The sad part is the few who do say anything and try to do the right thing are beaten down verbally, called trouble makers and almost ostracized by the rest of the community. What's wrong with this picture? Who's really the trouble maker?
I can tell you this hurts our community more then if we had the "vanilla" world" breathing down our necks trying to disband us. Believe me if they could they would but it is becoming clear that we are doing that quite well on our own.
We look at an older dominant who has a much younger submissive or two and turn our noses up at them, give them the cold shoulder, call them cradle robber, etc. People who had once called themselves "friend" would rather disengage then just be happy for them. We all know how hard it is to even find a true dominant or submissive; why would you give a decent dominant who truly cares about and cares for his subs in a most proper way a hard time? I am not speaking of these other types who prey on the young ones for their own desires. I am talking about the ones who have truly found a connection and love no matter the age. To allow someone elses happiness cause such rifts in friendships and people to not attend group functions is sad to say the least. People who don't even know the people involved give their opinion but never to the persons face. If your going to say it be strong enough to do it to their face at least.
I have seen and heard about law suits over things such fraudulent club sales(I use this as it is the most prominent one I know of) that have become such public knowledge and wreaked such havoc in our community because the venom they spew and the upheaval it causes has has gotten to epic perportions. What's up with this shit (excuse my language)?
Making it your goal in life to ruin someone else life and business is only going to ruin your soul, your spirit and the whole community will suffer. And the rest of you who "drink the cool-aid" and just go along with this madness make me sad; for myself and this community.
Why would you believe something about someone or a group with out first checking it out for yourself? Are you so willing to believe everything you hear, so afraid to stand up and say I am going to meet with these people and see for myself what going on before making a determination on what I heard.
People from all over the state and surrounding states ask; "What's up with all the drama in the Florida community? Why should I come and involve myself in these groups when they can't even get along with each other? They don't. That's the really sad part. I know many many good people; true Fetish people;doms and subs who have just left the community because they want nothing to with all the drama, sniping, back stabbing, and lack of common decency in the way we treat each other. It has caused people to not attend clubs where they more then likely would have a wonderful time if they would just make up their own minds or because they don't want the slime of the drama to rub off on their real lives so they have house parties or just live D/s in private.
I think we need to take a step back and look at what values used to be; where a man/woman was innocent till proved guilty, where people who were habitual trouble makers were the ones ostracized NOT the one trying to contribute to the community and support it to the best of their ability. No one is perfect and there is always going to be something but we need to look around and say to ourselves What's wrong with this picture and is this what we want our community in Florida to be known for?
