GentM -> The coming out (9/7/2009 6:36:03 AM)

I have been in my own way around this life style a long time, more some times less others. But I have seen more and more the scammers use the terms The training camp which has peeked my interest.
Now every one has there tail of fakes, scammers, and all the other things which wind every one.
No my thought is where is this idea coming from, the sick and twisted minds of crooks or from a wish or desire they have picked up on. Like the slave auction which has been in the mind set of the Life style for as long as I have known it.
I had a friend who wished to set up training houses that would have trainers (Dom/me) across the world where subs could go with some safety developed through vetting.
But back to my point are we as a life style really looking to become as open as to run training schools or houses fully and openly stepping out and setting up our own community, places of work and so on.
Yes if so where do I join.
Yes the Munches, and clubs, and events are all there but are we on the brink of Coming out as the others have. As ourselves and live openly as we are.
There are some who do, there are some who are Goth, Lesbians, Gay, but how many are fully Dom, Master, sub, slave, and simply that.
So my question is are we about to take that step out of the Dungeon and in to the light?

I don't think we'll ever be at the level of having a BDSM training house at the YMCA, nor even one in every town ... but certain select cities are more open to kink than others - and it might be worth digging to see what already exists.

For example, there are two commercial establishments rather nearby me (backdrop & thegatessm) where I can hire a sub at any time of the day or evening for about a buck-fifty an hour and "train" her. Of course, she'd actually be professional modeling, but, I can consider it D/s training for practice. In addition, there are two dungeons also rather nearby (Edges & Citadel) where I can, on a Friday or Saturday evening, if I'm lucky, find a sub to train then and there.

However both of these options pale in comparison to what you are suggesting ... but it's a start in that direction as all are long-established BDSM-only environments, one for hire, the other staffed with volunteers - but always available for your D/s pleasures.

OP, I have never heard of anyone proposing a training camp in the heart of an urban downtown.  It's always in an isolated area.  Even scammers have to present workable fantasies.

It has to be fully understood that as whole, the BDSM community  will be more out in the open as time passes and society evolves to be better aware and educated to many of the activities we engage in. We, as a whole, can not expect the community to simply stand up as one entity. It is very much alike to a person coming out of the closet as bi, lesbian or gay; there are too many variables to just jump out and say I am queer and be granted complete acceptance. It is with the hard work of others which leads the way and eventually BDSM will not be talked about in whispers and behind closed doors.

In terms of open-ness, I think we're already there at least in some parts of the country. I think the idea of a "training camp" is going to be a tough sell though given how the concept of training is generally derided here.

littlewonder -> RE: The coming out (9/7/2009 8:10:40 AM)

I've never quite understood "coming out". I don't see anything to come out about. I just live my life. I don't feela need to shoot from the rooftops "I like to be tormented sexually" or "I like for Master to be the lead in our relationship".

Do others go around yelling "I like him to fuck me hard"? I just don't see the purpose unless you're seeking attention or somehow think you should get some kind of special benefits.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: The coming out (9/7/2009 8:15:23 AM)

And then again some Doms are really picky and do not want a pretrained girl, who's been trained to someone elses idea of service and submission, and desire to do that training themselves.

I think MacDonalds and Pizza Hut have beaten us to it.

DesFIP -> RE: The coming out (9/7/2009 5:19:55 PM)

The only long established training house I know of is Butchmann's which caters to male subs. Women don't need to pay for it.

abuddingdom -> RE: The coming out (9/7/2009 9:41:11 PM)

lolol!! Actually, DarkSteven,  several months ago I saw a profile on this site by a pair of  20-something female submissives who claimed to represent a house of training in Manhattan which was capable of housing up to over 2 dozen people for extensive, live-in, in - depth training. If I recollect correctly they weren't the owners but worked there &were the out front contact people, so to speak.  I saw it twice within afew day period, both times as "friends" of posters here on the boards. As I say,  it was some time ago & I'm not about to search for it, but if  its still around & I happen to see it again I'll email you the screename. Then you can say you've seen one.......

You are speaking apples and oranges. Comming out is one thing, but this idea of training houses? Training is an individual thing, no self respecting Dominant is going to sherk their responsibilty and allow some stranger to train (if you must use that word) the most important person in their life

Kink.com's "Training of O" is in a very urban area, and they're open about where they are.  But that's a porno video production shop.
