Everyone gives a list, you just don't realize it as it is done through verbal communication so it appears more subtle

Agree. If it's done online, then some of it's often in the profile, but if not, it comes out in conversation.

What sort of car is that in your picture? I mean, besides muscle?

Thank you all for your replies thus far, I am finding each an interesting read.  :>
LadyPact cued in on precisely where I found the strengths of this idea personally: people so often focus on what htey can't do or haven't done or they posture and fixate on certain traits: how interesting to see it put on paper.
I personally wouldn't have it be the be-all, end all of a relationship but thought some might find it an interesting contemplation.  I ran across my notebook from the retreat awhile ago and was pondering it in an off-handed way (Laundry, re-pot plants, efficacy of D/s resume, pay x-bill, etc.).

What an insightful thread thank you for posting it Davankael. Lady Pact's response has prompted me to look at myself and think have a think about my strengths keeping the "what I can do...not what I can't".

And, of course D-types really could form the same sort of resume.  :>

Is there any D-type that would actually consider doing this?

I just read somewhere else that D-profiles often are very specific in what they want from a sub, but do not elaborate on what they have to offer to said sub. Making this a 2-way street, imho, would only be fair.

Very interesting concept...it would really put it all in a nutshell.  Maybe I'll go see just what kind of resume I could come up with, just for myself though, as I'm no longer looking.  The first thought I had after I read the OP was, this sounds like the slave files mentioned in the Marketplace Series of books written by Laura Antoniou.  Secondly, though, it wouldn't be able to show if the person would "click" or not with the reader of the resume.....so important in relationships of any kind.

I think that would be true, if the requirement were in place to set aside any romantic relationships while in the domestic/service contract. I know that isn't the way we handle things (our servants are both allowed and encouraged to develop personal relationships, with the sole condition that those relationships cannot interfere with the agreed-upon service requirements or cause strife in the House), but it does make me wonder, for those who are not poly, how such a disparity might play out if the dominant-type individual did not want the servant to have any interaction or relationship outside of the service relationship.

Dame Calla

Hopefully it would play out that the sub wouldn't get involved with someone who made it clear the sub would not have her/his needs met either inside or outside the relationship.

And hopefully the dominant would eventually realize that forbidding a sub to have needs doesn't actually mean that happens.

while they did mention this in the tales, slave files are a valuable tool some employ as a catch all of sorts for compiling information on their slave. i happen to like them and appreciate having pertinent details within my grasp. i also think it is a misconception to assume that the same details aren't conveyed on the other end of the spectrum. there's also the possibility that the slave may have no desire for such things as well.

I keep lot of files on slaves and would be slaves I work with and yes, I have asked for and received resumés from slaves when learning their backgrounds. The Marketplace books are good background information for people who take the training of slaves seriously. Yes, I know they are fiction but that doesn't mean some of that isn't done and can't have good ideas in it. Keeping notes and files while learning someone is such a very good idea I have slaves do it too. They keep track what they learn about me and other people they know and may serve. It is just a smart idea.

Having your own list of what you have done and what you are good at for your own information and use is a good idea as well.

Be well....

The Marketplace Series is interesting.  I am at this time halfway through the fifth book in the series.  :)
