pahunkboy -> My Ron Paul sign was detroyed by a vandal Friday night (9/6/2009 10:22:19 AM)

I am so mad I could scream!

I try to be a good member of the community.  Today I wake up to another pop bottle in my yard.

The other night- some person ripped the PA portion of my Ron Paul sign.

Just now- I seen who I think did it- they were honking the horn.  I ran out- and started yelling who did this. A black SUV.  A 20ish old with a bunch of piercings and some others in the car Hispanic.  I said yous were too loud on Friday night at 2 am- 4 am.  She asked if my name is Ron Paul.  I said no.  She said because you are crying over a sign.

At that point another car wanted thru- so I left.

The tall former jail boy seen things so that was perfect.
If he wasn't on parole he would beat the shit out of me.
This noise started when the Georgia people moved in.

I have the damaged piece of the sign.

Now as to what to do.

I for at least a week will let it exposed.  I want people to see that someone had the nerve to damage it.

...and people will notice the sign is different!

What would you do?

I so wish I could move to the country off the main road.   I keep to myself.  I don't start trouble.  My yard is always in tip top shape. I don't blast the radio and I keep my company- the little that I have to be behaved.

Your thoughts?

What's he running for now?

If you lived off the main road you would still get the occasional hassle because then they know nobody will see them doing things.

Des with vivid memories of opening my mailbox to discover some twit broke an egg in it.

I'd cuss and replace the sign.

Being the election is over I wouldn't still have the sign up.

If I did still have it up I would have seen it as a favor to remind me to take it down..election is over.

Around here you get fined for keeping them in your yard for so long after election day..don't remember what the time limit is.

This is not an election sign.  It is a political statement.  It is home made and attached to the house itself.
It is not different then pink flamingos- sillowettes- season flags- lawn decorations.
It is private property.  Even if the city deems it illegal- they would send a letter or come to the door.  They are well aware I have it up and have talked to me already about putting salt on my walk.

I am crazy enough to paint it into the house itself.

The sign is tactfull.

Others do not have the right to destroy my property.

I look at all kinds of things I dont particularly like to see thru out town.  But that does not mean I have the right to destroy it.

Don't go into a tizzy over it though. School starts this week and the kids will be busier from now on.

You are right. I am glad I confronted the lady I thought who did it.  It was an adult who likely was drunk.  As one would need a ladder.

Surely there are worst complaints that I could have.

Ever since a new neighbor moved in- the block has been more noisy and alot of litter.   White trash.  The company is the culprit- they come from the other side of town and that type of thing is common there.

I wish I could move to the country.   Screaming by kids and drunk adults at all hours- trashy TRASHY people.  When I was younger I did the party thing- but I knew better then to draw attention to myself.

They pay cheap rent and I am sure the landlord could have picked out better people.  He is selling the place- I hope some nice retiree moves in there.  I miss the old neighborhood.   There they get all out of shape as to when you cut teh grass- but I would fit in there....retirees make good neighbors.

No worries, it is only going to get worse as more and more cities are slowly destroyed.

I guess the whole thing took on another   dimension.  My sister  went to high school here- she had some friends look her up- they got talking about the family.....where she was told  I live in "The Ron Paul House"   a "landmark".  So I was flattered!

We have a few in the valley- one guy has a huge sign in his yard  "cash for clunkers is war on the middle class".

So the whole thing has shades of other meanings to me.    The media shut him out- and get away with it.  The sign is also a form of defiance against the grid.   For instance- how many bankers want that sign down?  lol.

I would say if you drive 10 mins in any direction in Central PA- you will see some type of home made sign.

Anyhow- I do feel better now that I complained about it.   I think it was that they were drunk...not a political statement to me.

purepleasure -> RE: My Ron Paul sign was detroyed by a vandal Friday night (9/6/2009 4:02:06 PM)

the sign probably should have been taken down by now anyways.

pahunkboy -> RE: My Ron Paul sign was detroyed by a vandal Friday night (9/6/2009 4:07:23 PM)

except for the future Ron Paul sculpture and monument is going to be sited here.

NeedToUseYou -> RE: My Ron Paul sign was detroyed by a vandal Friday night (9/6/2009 7:22:03 PM)

My advice is to fix the sign if you want it there, or take it down. If you leave it up, most likely they'll do something again. So, by a 20.00 dollar computer camera with some form of night capability, plug it into a cheap computer and start recording, a hard drive that is only used for recording video at a fairly slow frame will last a very long time, if the sign isn't damage the next day just delete the video and hit record again.

Sunnyfey -> RE: My Ron Paul sign was detroyed by a vandal Friday night (9/6/2009 7:36:15 PM)

My advice would be....to can the sign.

I'm about as liberal as they come (ok bleeding heart liberal...but whatever), instead of supporting candidates when there is not an election going on, I fly different banners. the Equality flag, rainbow pride flag, bi pride flag, and if I can ever find one in stock a Leather Pride flag.

No not all at once, that would be pretty garish don't you think? But, I always had little bumper stickers or magnets on my car, clearly stating my opinions. There is no need for signs especially if its inviting vandalism to your home (which it all ready has).

SweetNika -> RE: My Ron Paul sign was detroyed by a vandal Friday night (9/6/2009 7:45:19 PM)

I have no clue who Ron Paul is but this is private property and not an election sign so in my mind this is no different than people having support the troups signs up in their yards or things of that nature. That being said, when you call attention to your views in such a manner you can't be suprised when people react to you weather in a positive or negativ manner. You have to ask yourself, is experesssing your views regarding this man worth the negative reactions you may get?

Finally get around to taking last year's election sign down.

pahunkboy -> RE: My Ron Paul sign was detroyed by a vandal Friday night (9/6/2009 8:28:36 PM)

Actually I have gotten horn honks- (positive)

Maybe I will take it down.  That doesn't mean it has to stay down forever or that I cant put up some other type of emblem.  Being that I confronted the lady who I am pretty sure did it- I might become a target.  As it is- I get flack for keeping my yard up.

I am tho going to wait a day. I try not to do anything in haste.

...I had like 2 people stop and take pictures of it.

I am stuck tho with these neighbors who have a trashy streak in them and apparently have trashy friends.

People have been moving to New Hampshire  for the free state project.    So this was my way of speaking up.

So- maybe it is time to simply take it down for now....

pahunkboy -> RE: My Ron Paul sign was detroyed by a vandal Friday night (9/17/2009 2:28:34 PM)

Update:

I repaired my sign.  I am leaving it up since Ron Paul has some traction on the audit the fed bill.

People might mar my sign again.   I might be seen as odd.   But a few people will catch on to his new book and wonder where they heard the name before.

There will come a time to take it down- but not right now.

Arlen Specter is too smug - thinks he will be the king of PA forever.   He dangles a bi-pass over our head as only "he" can make possible for the valley here.

So if anything- a protest on him is in order.

Peter Schiff has announced he is running to unseat Dodd of CT.   Even if Schiff doesn't win- he will get noticed.  (Dodd is on the banking committee)

The damage was  drunken party reveler.   As for the most part people locally are low keyed.

This may come as a shock to you- but the Audit the Fed bill actually has a chance of passing!   The g-20 meets in Pittsburgh in a few days.  That should be interesting.

Who knows maybe one day I will get back to work on the unfinished projects around my house.

PS- silver is over $17.
