I'd call this unexplained phenomenon[8|]

My Google is fine.......

Do you have an Old Version of your web browser? Or do you have a Web Browser that is NO LONGER supported.

Many people who are using Lesser Known Browsers are finding LOTS of sites are no longer supporting Internet Explorer 6 and 7 and are requiring you to go to 8 or you lose many of the functions.

subtlebutterfly -> RE: google (9/5/2009 12:06:54 PM)

nope i have the newest..and it's always been just fine until today or if it was yesterday[:(] now it's butt naked!
I use mozilla and IE 8..both of the browsers are fucking this up. First I thought it was the igoogle so I signed out and tried again but nope!
The result come..but the top bars like image search blahblahblah disappears..aaaaaand commands like "define: word" shows no results
It's horrible![8D][>:]

Have you tried Bing?

Not Crosby, either.

SweetNika -> RE: google (9/5/2009 1:44:11 PM)

My google is fine today, but it has done what your describing in the past. It has always worked itself out.

subtlebutterfly -> RE: google (9/5/2009 1:47:04 PM)

I don't like bing.com ..it's intrusive, it forces you to use it even when you don't want to..at least it does it at work.

omg it better work itself out!! *prays to the founders of google*

SirLost -> RE: google (9/5/2009 1:59:22 PM)

Are you unable to use Google services even after reaching them seperately from http://images.google.com/imghp?hl=en&tab=wi , etc?

I would try starting Google with a proxy tunnel like http://vtunnel.com/ . It's still going to be useless due to the tons of advertisements (CM ads have more appropriate content than it, IMO) even if you manage to reach Google services, but at least we can have an idea whether the problem is caused because of DNS settings, etc...

subtlebutterfly -> RE: google (9/5/2009 2:07:07 PM)

i can reach them separately..thankfully, and Nika is right..it's started to correct itself, it still looks gay as fuck but now at least the bar has showed up again at the main google site even though the rest still looks butt naked...it'll hopefully be fixed by tomorrow.

Google works fine through the proxy!

A few days ago Google posted an entry on their Gmail blog that stated they were having difficulties with capacity and to please be patient while they were working out their problems. I'm guessing it might take a few more days or so before everything Google is working well again.

Give them time.

For those who care, here's the first blog post regarding Gmail and their follow-up. While Google claims it's only an issue with Gmail, people using Google Groups and other Google apps have reported troubles with response times and weird displays. I would give Google some time to allow them to fix whatever needs fixing and to return to normal operations. How long is anyone's guess but given the loss of ad revenue they must be seeing because of improperly working pages, I bet they're working around the clock to get it fixed.

subtlebutterfly -> RE: google (9/5/2009 2:13:23 PM)

*luvs sappatoti for making my day*
I hadn't heard of that one all of a sudden everything became gay n I gotta heart attack 'cause I gotta use it for my studies[:-]

Since I guess the problem is solved, thanks everybody![:D]

SirLost -> RE: google (9/5/2009 2:20:47 PM)

If it works in proxy as you liked and you can't be bothered with that proxy sites or to wait Google to fix it, I'd advise trying using OpenDNS (or any other DNS server address you know) to change your DNS and restart the computer. Not sure if that's going to work, but worth trying.

subtlebutterfly -> RE: google (9/5/2009 2:22:34 PM)

Yeah, I think I'll just wait though :O) but thanks a bunch!

pahunkboy -> RE: google (9/6/2009 1:09:18 PM)

gmail was down the other day.   :-)

xXsoumisXx -> RE: google (9/6/2009 4:32:40 PM)

I love Bing.. I enjoy the pics each day so i set  it to home page. Great way to learn a bit about places i wouldn't ordinarily be interested in.

Arpig -> RE: google (9/6/2009 9:15:48 PM)

I would be lost without my google as well. When my sons come to visit they have a shopping list of things to be looked up...everything to where a particular type of dinosaur fossil was found to if American crocodiles are known man-eaters. Google has never let us down...it takes some creative search terms at times, but apparently I have a knack for that sort of thing...I guess I think like google does.[;)]

Aileen1968 -> RE: google (9/6/2009 9:18:19 PM)

I love google and gmail is the best. I can't believe everyone doesn't use gmail.

Arpig -> RE: google (9/6/2009 9:42:34 PM)

I have a gmail account,and I don't like the way it presents a chain of emails...I guess I am just used to the simple way hotmail does it...as well changing my email would be a pain, I have had my present hotmail address for over 10 years, and that is the one everybody knows and remembers.
