imhooking -> computer programing help needed (8/28/2009 10:11:08 AM)

i desperatly need help in my programming class. i know there are tons of super smart computer people on here and i need you, male female dom sub slave, idc. just help...please?

"input the selling prices of all houses in a sub-division named botany bay sold during the year 2006 and determin the median selling price. the median of a list N numbers is as fallows: the middle number of the sorted list if N is odd; the average number of the two middle numbers in the sorted list, if N is even. (hint: after inputting the prices into an array, sort that array)"

i don't need the exact answer, just give me an idea or get me started in the right direction. cause, i'm not getting it. the book isn't helping. this is NOT my homework, but instead a teamwork project but this problem has landed on me. so, some ideas on the right codes would be great, or at least how to lable the parts right.

the others are counting on me and i don't want to displease or fail them. i'm already [sm=river.gif] because i just can't figure it out.

dont know the language but here is A recipe, not THEE recipe.

make an arbitrary array of 1.4 the size you could possibly need. (y=mx +b) roughly a 45 degree angle on the graph...

something doing a validinputcount = validinputcount + 1 or quit

tempresult = validinputcount/2
any integer number (which is what your valid input variable will hold) divided by 2 into an integer tempresult will be odd if you multiply it by 2 and it is not the same number you started with.
if tempresult = validinputcount
do
enddo

if tempresult <> validinputcount
do
enddo

quit

Lady, you owe me a world class daylong blowjob, now get outta here!!! gowan!!!! scram!!!!!!

Ron

if it is odd you already have your index into your array

also,

if you are doing this in c/c++ or java or one of the oo languages, check the library, they got the functions is even, is odd, is alpha, is numeric, just glue the shit up.

YO!!!!!!!!!! Hookie!!!!!!!!!!!! I see you looking, did you get that?

Ron

imhooking -> RE: computer programing help needed (8/28/2009 11:42:08 AM)

yes, i think i got it. i'm going to look over it a few more times just to be sure. but i thank you much for the replies. i'm waiting for the school to get back to me with the number/site to the tutors. like i say, i'm not failing but i think i'm going to and that is not something i want to do. oh, and your little comment about giving you a blowjob...cute. not going to happen, but cute nonetheless.

mnottertail -> RE: computer programing help needed (8/28/2009 11:44:12 AM)

yeah, I saw the profile, and understood it.

the sentiment is valid however.......LOL.

this is a sex site (and computer tutoring site), afterall.

So what language you doing this in?

daintydimples -> RE: computer programing help needed (8/28/2009 12:11:42 PM)

Wow, Ron, you're not just a cute face and nice butt....who knew???

mnottertail -> RE: computer programing help needed (8/28/2009 12:16:36 PM)

I was a computer programmer for about 20+ years. I remember the panic of eating the elephant as a noob.......but one realizes that any elephant can be eaten one bite at a time, eventually.

Or, as marilyn chambers said about gobbling Johnnie the wad Holmes' seal clubber.......

It's just another act.

[edit]
and thats why I talk like I do.....people on the inside in computing often do the yadda, yadda, yadda thing.......giving you the start of something and expect you to suture the rest of it together.......confusing to others sometimes, I suppose.......but the medium is the message......

*uses my vast psychic powers of observation*  Has anyone ever mentioned you have this oral fixation?

mnottertail -> RE: computer programing help needed (8/28/2009 12:24:41 PM)

Oh, GAWD no, first I heard of it, do you really think so? You want to present me some up close and intimate oral arguments?

Ron

MstrPBK -> RE: computer programing help needed (8/28/2009 12:28:17 PM)

pause .... my only question is: Which botany bay?
My first guess is that if I look hard I bet I could find a few of them out there.
Good luck with your class - I will be joining you in about 3 months with my classes.

arrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Me thinks I've bitten off more than I can chew.

mnottertail -> RE: computer programing help needed (8/28/2009 12:30:59 PM)

an unfortunate turn of phrase, in context, that.

daintydimples -> RE: computer programing help needed (8/28/2009 1:47:39 PM)

I'm good that way.

Create and fill your array. Sort your array. Divide your array in half as such:

If odd: N/2+0.5 = the element that gives your your median

If even: ((N/2)+(N/2+1))/2 = the average of the two middle elements as your median

I hope this helps, and I'm not even asking for any kind of personal service in return.

mnottertail -> RE: computer programing help needed (8/28/2009 2:14:02 PM)

int((n*.5) + 1) is usually faster not that it matters for something so trivial, but its good for a laugh.

sappatoti -> RE: computer programing help needed (8/28/2009 2:23:35 PM)

Yes, you are right. After 25 years, knocking the crud off the synapses takes some doing.

mnottertail -> RE: computer programing help needed (8/28/2009 2:25:34 PM)

well, were both geezer geeks........lol. I had no idea you were mathematically handicapped and had no more ambition than to fuck around with computers, I thought I was the only one.

LOL,
good to see you, I haven't seen you around, but it could be the aging eyes thingie, too.

sappatoti -> RE: computer programing help needed (8/28/2009 4:07:17 PM)

Thanks Ron, glad to be back. No, your eyes are fine. I've been away taking care of some unpleasantries.

My math challenges were such that, in my first job in a data operations department, they moved me from programming into operations during my first three days on site. But, my skills weren't wasted as I pressed into service writing job control scripts. I actually liked it better; no more pressure coming up with formulas that were just plain wrong. At least the script controlled jobs went off without a hitch, unlike the actual programs themselves which usually crashed at least once per shift. [:D]

imhooking -> RE: computer programing help needed (11/14/2009 3:14:17 PM)

dang i see i missed a lot in not checking back here. btw, i got a B+ in the class. not that it matters much. lol...programming was too hard. but i did it. again, not that it matters.
