I am going on a cruise over winter.  Although money always is an option it really is not.  I am not seeking a super deluxe cabin nor do I want a $10,000 a person 14 day personally guided tour of Antarctica, I could not come close to affording that - although it would be cool.  If someone wants to fund that for me let me know.

It seems an average cruise with average amenities run $1,000 - 2,000 a person(6 days or whatever).  I was going to go to Alaska.  However, I figured I would check with everyone here where I should go first.  Any thought?  The biggest boat I have been on was a 28 ft cabin.  It was years ago and it was my parents.

If you can find a smaller ship (200-500 vs 2500 passengers) I think you'll find the service is off of the charts.  Everyone I know that's gone says Alaska is wonderful, but I've only done 3 days to Mexico on a big ship and 9 days in Spain/Morocco on a smaller one.  The European trip was outstanding.  There may be big discounts for booking very early (1 year +), but I imagine last minute deals might be worth it too (just guessing).

yours

I'm not aware of many winter Alaskan cruises (seems there would be minimal daylight and it would be, well, freezing) but apparently I'm wrong.

Granted, that is "tour," not "cruise," but a little more searching should yield results.  Have a great trip!
