Driving in Virginia is a nightmare. Anything over 80 mph on the interstates is an automatic reckless driving offense (criminal not civil). They can hit you with a $2500 fine, one year suspended license, and the offense goes on your record for life which can make it difficult to get a job or loan. But if you cross the imaginary border into any state around Virginia, you get a simple speeding ticket for $200.

I know this because I got nailed outside Richmond and it cost me $1500 to get the charge dropped.

Virginia is for idiots.

I was to Boston once- many do not realize there is quite a populations east of New York.  The freeways are pretty clogged going all directions.

PA is among the prettiest states.   Thanks for saying it was pictureasuq,   My brother has been bashing the area lately.   Look- we all cant live in mcmansion subdivisions.   Some of us prefer a small town.    He pisses me off.  When riots start- and Chicago will have them- he will think of how "losers" live in small towns.

We have pretty girls here.  Of course we do.  They tend not to be over made up with make up.    That can be pretty.

My house is quiet- for a change. I love the rain.  The UMs were haveing a scream as loud as you can as long as you can contest.  and I got told off when I complained of the noise....   so hopefully people now are busy.

i80 has alot hard woods- best east of the Mississippi.   The Japanese had their eye on them- but so far the trees are still there.

Hi Popeye,

Thanks for sharing about your trip. I'm from Massachusetts originally and spent many summer days at Hampton Beach...thanks for the trip down memory lane!

I grew up in Portsmouth and spent many days visiting Hampton Beach. I mostly went for the arcades back in the 70's and 80's. Eventually it got so crowded it was impossible to enjoy going there, so if I wanted some sand and surf I would go to Rye Beach or Odiorne Point. York Beach in Maine can be pretty fun or even Old Orchard Beach which is a lot like Hampton. But the Maine beaches are smaller and the water takes longer to warm up if you like to swim.

Anthro, I don't think that water EVER gets warm. The water at Hampton Beach is always freezing.
You're right about the crowds though, all the locals avoid that area in the summertime. And what happened to Portsmouth? It's all "yuppie" now and full of left wing radicals and restaurants that you come out of still hungry.
Remember that hot dog stand downtown?
And I think the Greyhound bus still stops downtown.
My brother in law, my sister and me took a ride through Rye. VERY nice houses there, lots of old Yankee money.

Well thankyou Wolfen, I still have a few more stories to add in the next day or two.
I got my haircut by my buddy a retired E-9 Gunny Sgt in the Marines. A few good stories there!
