What is your favorite comedian?

Mine is Louis CK

DarkSteven -> RE: Favorite comedian (8/20/2009 6:55:34 PM)

Hard to say exactly which one, but Brian Regan, Maria Bamford, Bill Cosby, and Emo Phillips top the list.

Edited to add: If they don't have to be currently living, I'd add Jack Benny and Flip Wilson.

Geroge Carlin.

The man was not only a comedian he was also a philospher, an ethicist, a teacher and, perhaps, a prophet as well. He death came far too soon and the world is diminished without him.

There are other greats - Richard Pyror, Bill Cosby, and Lucille Ball pop into mind - but Carlin is the god (not that he would believe in himself) who reigns over them all.

abrattyprincess -> RE: Favorite comedian (8/20/2009 7:38:11 PM)

Eddie Izzard, Margaret Cho, and Jeff Dunham.

Favorite?  hard to narrow it down to just one.  Have to agree with a lot here and say Carlin, as well as Mel Brooks, Robin Williams, Margaret "the notorious c.h.o." Cho, Bill Cosby, Gilda Radner, Richard Pryor... just for standup on those though.  If we're throwing acting in as well, have to add Dom DeLuise, Gene Wilder, Danny DeVito, Lucile Ball, John Candy, Marty Feldman.  The list could go on for a while, but those are definitely the toppers.

sirsholly -> RE: Favorite comedian (8/21/2009 12:38:23 AM)

George Carlin
Larry the Cable Guy

brispslave -> RE: Favorite comedian (8/21/2009 12:40:04 AM)

George Carlin, second place is daylight, third place Billy Connolly.

how could I forget these folks?

I must be sleepy../..

GreedyTop -> RE: Favorite comedian (8/21/2009 12:44:39 AM)

shit, I forgot to add Eddie Izzard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rainfire -> RE: Favorite comedian (8/21/2009 3:56:41 AM)

Ya, Eddie Izzard ROCKS!

But Bill Engvall, Jeff Foxworthy (I swear those 2 know my family - otherwise how could they describe us so accurately?!?) make up 2 of my favourites. OMG, listening to Bill's Bungee Jumping and Parachuting routine while driving, BIG MISTAKE. I almost ran off the road several times, laughing so damn hard.

Robin Williams - this world would be a much smaller, and darker, place without him.

Dennis Miller used to be funny, on SNL and then his own show. Then he turned Republican and lost his edge..... pity. He had some damned good rants and the photo captions almost always had me laughing good and hard.

And then the classics, alot of who have already been mentioned, George Carlin, Bill Cosby, Jack Benny, Dom DeLuise (I cried when he died), Marty Feldman (gone way too soon) Gene Wilder, Steve Martin (King Tut!) and so many more!

tammystarm -> RE: Favorite comedian (8/21/2009 4:36:40 AM)

the so missed George Carlin as everyone else has said, Bill Mahr (im gonna get beaten for that one), bill murray , "Oh, it's not the speed really so much, I just wish I hadn't drunk all that cough syrup this morning." from stripes  still love that movie, my goodness the list could be a mile long i love comedians!

Rainfire -> RE: Favorite comedian (8/21/2009 4:40:19 AM)

[sm=ofcourse.gif]   How could I forget Bill Mahr????? His Golden Goose Awards were hilarious, and he still is.........

ETA - And the guys on "Who's Line is It, Anyway?" One of the funniest shows ever.
