LOL Okay... I tried that one out in my head...

Something about a man saying my lady friend is a EAW... reminds me of a donkey! Not sure that will go over well. Maybe it was my southern drawl...

Nope. Not your southern drawl, Lockit! I don't have a southern drawl, but I came up with the same donkey noise that you experienced when I tried to prounounce EAW out loud.

Well, I am in a Mistress/slave relationship.  Therefore, I must be a Mistress.  I am Dominant in nature so that must make me a Domme.  Go figure?

How, exactly, could I disagree with her even if I wanted to. She presented her personal opinion. I happen to agree with it (at least on the male dom side.. It hadn't occurred to me to think of similar label diferences on the femdom side).

Note that while I agree with LP's post, I also agree with your post. As soon as someone makes such a differentiation, someone wants to start comparing them.

Does this mean YOU'RE now hanging with the cool kids since I agreed with you and you agreed with LP? *laughs*.

Hold it, hold it, HOLD IT.

Exactly when did I become one of the cool kids?  Was there a vote or something?  LOL.

Fair Lady Pact,

You never favored us with the distinction you draw between "mistress" and "domme", though your views on D/s and M/s we concise and articulately presented.

Back on point, I watch my tongue when using the word "mistress." I find it to be very personal. I also assume it can cause trouble as it's a homonym for "the other woman". (Whether being the other woman is a compliment or insult, I leave to another thread)

I have heard many women respond to being called "mistress" with "I am not YOUR mistress." Leading me to believe many find it as personal as I do. I equate it to "master." Though I will avoid discussing the tipping point between being someone's domme and being someone's mistress for brevity's sake.

There's a syntax difference as well. "Yes Mistress" might be said to acknowledge, but "Yes Domme" is rarely used (rarely here means never). In this capacity, "mistress" can serve as a name, whereas "domme" cannot.

In short, I consider "domme" to be the generalized, diminutive, sterilized form of "mistress".

I consider "mistress" to be the devoted, personalized, intimate, direct form of "domme."

The difference between Mistress and Domme is how you perceive the definition in the first place. There are no absolutes.  The terms Mistress and Domme are by their nature quite nebulous terms.   One can interchange them quite easily. Each to their own taste

Hello HK.  It's been a while.  I hope you and your pet are well.

You are correct.  I didn't make My own distinction between Dominant and Mistress.  The reason for that is that My own standard is pretty high.  It's the standard that I hold for Myself, but I can't exactly hold My standard to others.  There are things that are important to Me that have no significance to someone else.  I have to accept that as some apply the term to their own personal lives.

What does tend to bother Me is the inequality of genders.  It is My personal belief that females should have to aspire to the same level as males who would apply the term Master.  Too often, because there are so few Dominant females, it's common acceptance that the term Mistress should be applied.  The same person, if they were male and would call themselves Master, would be ridiculed.

If I can not live up to the same standard as men, I do not deserve the title.

1.all mistress's are dommes,
2. all dommes are dominatrixes,
3. not all mistress's are dominatrixes tho,
4. a domina is a domme who is not a mistress,
5. a madam is a dominatrix, mistress and an exception to the above rule of all dommes are dominatrixes
6. its generally considered very rude to mistake a domina for a madam
7. dominatrixes should be spelt with an X not a C (this one is just my opinion and not universal fact)
8. a "goddess" is just a pirate themed domme
