That was definitely cool. It doesn't take knowledge of fluid dynamics to appreciate the artistic results, though it might be helpful in the knowing of why something like this happens.

Pretty cool. It does make me wonder how they come up with these things. Thanks for sharing, I always appreciate your findings.

I was thinking what an excellent science experiment to teach the kids.

My guess is probably not.
It probably has something to do with the fat in the milk and the surfactant in the detergent.

It would be even more magical if they could then drink the milk without it leading to severe diarrhoea.

A drop of oil calms troubled waters they say.

Specifically, the detergent used was Dawn, which does the same motion involved with grease if you stop and look at it, when initially applied. How do I know it was Dawn? Because it's what I've used for years - for me, it's the best detergent.

Now, for it to keep going that long, well, as Mr. Smarties said "Ohhhhhh, that's beautiful!"  [:D]

I think you have to use something with some natural fat in it - there is a few things going on in there chemistry wise but I believe the colors get pushed around as the fat in the milk and the detergent combine.
