Having been on the receiving end of a single tail many times, I know how they can FEEL! That being said, I didn't want to use it on Otter until I HAD practiced A LOT! Best intentions! We played with it the first night. Now, that being said, I wasn't hurling it at full force.....far from it. I was tapping him with it, since I knew I had very little experience throwing it, plus the whip was stiff and new. Now, about 6 weeks later, the whip is more supple, and I have a better idea of what force gets what result. (It doesn't take much <grin>). My inexperience lends a bit of edge play to our whip sessions, for sure. As for safety - I always tell Otter to cover his eyes and don't look up unexpectedly, cause if he loses an eye, it would be his own fault! <tongue in cheek>
