Just wondering (for the folks old enough to know about it... heck it may still be going on some places) went/go to a weekly "Rocky Horror Picture Show"?

For those that did, did it influence your kink at all? Were you a regular or a cast member? Were you already kinky? Looking back was it a positive experience?

I went weekly for about 2 years beginning my senior year in HS. I wasn't in the cast. I was already tying up my girlfriend, but I was still coming to terms with my dominant desires. I think that for me it was good to find other people with similar proclivities.

it never influenced me, but I'm not a huge fan.  Daddy actually worked those midnight showings at his local theatre, so who knows.  I do think the Boy Scouts influenced him more in his bondage style than anything!

Oh I'll be the first to admit that it is a horrible movie, but that's not what it was about in my town. It was about dressing up in a crazy costume, getting drunk/hi, and doing all kinds of other things we weren't "supposed" to. But it was mostly late teens / early 20's too.

DavanKael -> RE: How many people... (8/2/2009 9:21:12 PM)

Of my friends of an age when Rocky Horror was a big thing, I think I am one of the few who never went.
Of the same group of friends, I would venture to say I am ether the most kinky or one of the most kinky.
So, I don't see a correlation among me and mine.

(I also don't mention not having gone to said friends too often for fear of being dragged off to a showing)

I lost my "Rocky Horror Virginity" in the fall of 1980 (not quite a year since I misplaced my other virginity at the time!!). I loved it! It was in a dumpy little theater with pillows on the floor. Thank goodness I didn't catch something!
I didn't recognize my kink for what it was then. I don't think there was any correlation FOR ME between the movie and my desires.

LadyPact -> RE: How many people... (8/2/2009 10:03:52 PM)

Did I go????

Let's do the time warp again!  LOL.

No, it didn't influence Me a bit, but it sure did just bring back some good memories.

DesFIP -> RE: How many people... (8/2/2009 10:28:14 PM)

Never went to the movie. I'm old enough to have seen it as a live stage production.
But no influence on me.

Danemora -> RE: How many people... (8/2/2009 10:39:07 PM)

I went to see Rocky Horror Picture Show nearly every weekend when I was in high school.  While I did enjoy the heck out of it, I do not feel it in any way influenced my own kink.

*sigh*...its rather sad that they dont have it available like they used to

My first hubby and I spent a year going to the "midnights" every Fri night to watch it. This was LONG before I recognised My kink and I never actually "saw" it as kinky then, just kinda crazy and fun! Seeing it again AFTER I got kinky was quite a revelation! I also went to 2 different versions of the stage show but overall, prefer the movie, just LOVE Tim Curry. Suffice to say that when I finally showed the movie to Master (such a youngster He is), I still knew all the words to all the songs ... I didn't throw any rice though [:D]

God, been ages since I've been.  But, they still do it here on occasion. Was long before I discovered I was "kinky", to me it was just good fun, and something to do with friends late at night, and an enjoyable movie and experience.

Kind of funny though, just bought the special edition dvd a couple days ago, was thinking about watching it tomorrow night.

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: How many people... (8/3/2009 1:05:22 AM)

i've been going every year (around Halloween time - that's when it's popular to go) since i was 21.

nope i wasn't that kinky back then like i am now - merely going as a fan of the movie with friends.  i did go on stage one year during Time Warp with the cast members.

when it's shown on cable or tv - i drive my ums crazy with my own sing along even though they like the movie too.

SweetPoosy -> RE: How many people... (8/3/2009 1:23:41 AM)

I started going in about 1977...which places a real date on my head, doesn't it? I lived in San Diego, and it was showing down in OB at the Strand as I recall. My hairdresser would get done up like Gene Simmons from KISS, and do the whole fire-breathing thing during line up. The friend that I would go with would challenge me to wear more and more outrageous things, and a great time was had by all.

I do believe that my infatuation with the whole genre did influence my kink a bit, it certainly gave me an early love of corsetry! Then again, I was already pretty kinky by 18...though I did manage to keep from being thrown out of the all-girl Catholic High School I attended. Amazingly, they never found out about the orgy I held, or if they did, they never let on.

I recently discovered that a friend of mine had never been, so we hunted up a local showing, and it just happened to be that very night in Tucson! So we headed up that way, and my friend lost her virginity at the age of 56. Bwah-hah-hah! She was a pretty good sport about licking whipped cream off of some guy's belly too!

And I would be the first to tell you that it is an ace film. I have never seen the play, been a massive fan of the music and film since I was a little girl. I imagine my not dressing up to go to the theater means that I do not really fall into the group you are asking, but needless to say the film and music didn't influence me at all, its fun.

Lashra -> RE: How many people... (8/3/2009 5:34:58 AM)

I played Magenta at the local theatre for a year. It was exciting and so much fun. I miss those days. Did it help to shape my kink? Hmm perhaps it added a bit of fire to the flame. It was nice to know that there were other like minded people out there as many in our troup were involved in kink on some level.

dundreggen -> RE: How many people... (8/3/2009 7:31:21 AM)

I went a few times, watched the movie lots and even went to see it as a musical.  Not sure it influenced me in anyway, at least not any more than any other production I was a fan of.

AvidRunner -> RE: How many people... (8/3/2009 7:35:14 AM)

Hahahaha I went most Friday nights my junior year in high school...at the time, it was a lot of fun.   It definately kicked off my interest in corsetry.

Lucylastic -> RE: How many people... (8/3/2009 7:44:36 AM)

I was a fan of Tim Curry*drool* in my late teens but being in the UK I dont remember RHPS being popular. The first time I saw it was in 1985, and I loved it not just Tim in his corset, but Riff Raff too, I paid 65$ for a video version in 89 for our anniversary and wore that out. My kids were practically weaned on it. Ive never seen a stage show, altho I would love to. One day:)
Its still a favourite movie tho
Lucy

GreedyTop -> RE: How many people... (8/3/2009 7:47:49 AM)

I met Tim once. He is REALLY short.. (5'4" or so I think.. this is based n the boots I was wearing at the time, when his eyes came to my chin)

I dont think RHPS influenced me at all...

but dammit (janet) it was a FUN movie!!

AvidRunner -> RE: How many people... (8/3/2009 7:49:14 AM)

See, I find it really campy now, and it's boring to watch at home LOL    But it's still a "hey remember those times" kind of movie in a nostalgic kind of way...sort of like going back and watching "Better Off Dead"  (two dollars!)

Lucylastic -> RE: How many people... (8/3/2009 7:49:36 AM)

yes he is a shortarse Bless him, but with his voice he doesnt need a height:) it makes me all goosebumply
