In this thread: shots in the dark that find their mark. What was the first email you sent her that got a great response back? What was the first email from somebody that really caught your eye?

Wow, nobody? I guess rule #37 is true, there are no girls on the internet!

Or it could be that starting a thread at 2:30 in the morning EST is just bad planning. Take your pick.

God knows, I know I rarely don't get a response, generally there are three reasons I send messages, either because of something said on the forum, because of something in their profile or because I am interested.

ETA

Why are there no girls? Surely it would be that there are no subs

Messages that got my attention all were personally written with what they had read in my profile and to me what they wrote really vibrated that what they were writing about had a passion inside them and what they were writing I got a strong sense of it was really their thoughts and feelings.

Most messages that appeared to be from sincere men but did not come close to connecting often were written like they were going through the motions and I was the tenth person they had written that day and had another ten to get out after hitting the send button.

Here are two first emails I sent to women that generated excellent responses.  These examples are women who don't post on or read the forums, so it was 100% cold contact.

"You have the best username I have ever seen.  Are you a musician?"  (Her username is an unusual music term.)

"The story in your journal about the man picking his nose on your date is hilarious.  Here's a photo of me, with my fingers dangerously close to my face!  How are you doing this afternoon?"

Hmm, that was probably a poem which she ended posting in her journal where it was promptly plagiarized, sent around, and eventually was posted on this forum (which was how I knew someone had absconded with it).

What was the first email from somebody that really caught your eye?

I can receive unsolicited mail? Wowzers, this opens up so many new possibilities!

Sure, I used to get unsolicited email all the time before I changed my profile. I had a long, rambling rant which made outrageous claims and made me out to be a giant raging asshole, delusional and megalomaniacal, and by god did I get a crapton of mail. And surprisingly a lot of it was positive. I got bored with it after a while, but if you want to try it I can vouch that it works.

Didn't e-mail them I just met them both in real life.

Sorry can't help you but I would be interested to know what other people found to be the phrase of concept of the e-mail that made them go... Yeah, that is what makes me want to get to know them better.
