Or, I could have called this thread "Whoops, I Did It Again."

As many of the regulars to the forums know, I just recently moved across the country.  This took a total of seven days, because I took a couple of days stop over in Denver.  During that time, My leather goods and My main toy bag were with Me.  Unfortunately, My candles were not.  These candles are approximately four inches tall and probably an inch and a half in diameter.  Due to the heat during the move, they are probably only 90% of their prior shape.  Some of them will no longer sit exactly flat, which is My preference for their use.

Here's My dilemma.  I need to fix them up.  I am not in My new house yet and I do not have access to My regular supplies.  What I need are some ideas on how to do this in My current surroundings.  Remember, I do not have kitchen access or glassware to work with.  If anyone has suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them.

go to a goodwill store, buy a plate or two.  Get a lighter (preferably one of the long ones specifically for candles or fireplaces).  Heat bottom of candle, set it on the plate until it cools and sticks.  When the wax is cool use a razorblade or a knife to cut it off the plate.

Both are good and worth a try.  Thank you for the suggestions.

(I have to admit, I'll have to look up Goodwill here.  LOL)

Slavation army or any other thrift shop will work too (I just mentioned Goodwill because there is a HUGE GW store nearby.. )

Problem with the blowdryer is that it will heat more of the candle than you probably WANT heated.  The lighter gives a more directed heat.  If you want to re-mold the whole candle, yeah, blowdryer.

If I had My tongs, I would probably attempt the whole reshaping thing.  With the length of the candles, the fact that they are a bit bumpy should be ok.  I'm thinking the wax will still pool nicely after a bit of burn.

The settling in is taking a bit.  The house we looked at today isn't quite what I have in mind.  I need some adequate dungeon space, which I'm quite excited about setting up.

I do have to say, the welcome I've received from CM folks in the area so far has been wonderfully positive.  I've received notes on everything from good restaurants in the area, to invitations to visit groups and play spaces, to where the local speed traps are located.  It's been exceptionally helpful and friendly.  I can't wait to meet the local kinksters!

Thunder was absolutely fantastic!  Not only did I get to meet Otters and his Lady, the classes were inspiring and I even got a chance to play.  I couldn't have been happier with the experience.

See? It pays to be kinky   We're just happy to have you and Mr. P on the left coast, LP!
BTW, since you aren't in permanent housing yet, you might want to look into spending a night or 2 at the Madonna Inn down in SLO. That place is a bit whacked, but wonderfully fun!

OK.  I'm kind of curious about this one.

Since the thread got moved (not a big deal since I got good answers) I have to admit that I'm wondering why.  Is wax play and care of wax not considered a BDSM topic?

Maybe whoever moved it thought it was a thread about Liverpudlians, as they have a tendency to address others as 'wack' as in 'err, right there wack'.

House of wax can therefore be misunderstood to be a house full of Liverpudlians.

LP - those dimensions sound very much like plumbers candles - are you anywhere near a hardware store? (I find mine in the mom and pop type hardware stores but its possible they are available other places).

You're my heroine! I spotted that place a few months ago when I was stopping in San Luis to have dinner with Vendaval just a block up the street, and since I was a little early I stopped to have a peek. It looked fantastic, but I forgot the name of it. Now you have saved me. I'm gonna book a room there next month, on my next California trip.

I am eternally in your debt. Need a kidney or anything like that?

Ms Flutter, I am near a hardware store, but I was house hunting part of the day today and didn't get to grab any kind of supplies.

Panda, you know you have a spot if you need one.

Buy some new candles? Probably a lot easier and less time-consuming than trying to fix some melted ones
