That could also be called "How to resign from your Police Department without actually 'quitting'"

When I was a teenager, we had a local cop pull his gun because he was tired of waiting for his and his wife's turn for karaoke at a local bar. Yeah, he was fired. He didn't get charged with anything though, which pissed off a lot of people. You really have to wonder what is going through someone's head when they do something that fucking stupid. I hope the guy's egg mcmuffin and coffee was worth it.

I have to admit...I liked how the cops gave a scare to those MickeyD's employees...those assholes all they do is chit-chat and be lazy and not have the line move..and they have a shitty attitude to service (which I expect) - however, it is bad that the cop did not hesistate to draw his weapon for something so unimportant...so imagine you accidentally piss off this cop...he is gonna have you with a weapon drawn? Ridicolous...the McDonald's and the cops...

I think that incident and the one in the OP are examples of those who 'fall through the cracks' and 'seem fine' until the moment they snap. It's not something you can really predict and anyone can be susceptible to it given the right circumstances.

I think I'd be a bit miffed if nothing happened to the cop as well. That'd be about the ultimate example of them being 'above the law.' Because you know if us common folk did that, we'd be looking at a few years behind bars at the very least.

And probably banned from McDonald's for life, on top of that. What a burden to bear... all that time in prison, and knowing that when you get out, it's nothing but Burger King and Wendy's until the day you die!

What really pisses me off, is when a cop does do something like this (particularly when it's kind of a sure thing they did) they are always placed on "Paid Leave". Gimme a fucking break! Put these assholes on unpaid leave, but put the pay in a separate account. Then if they should be cleared of the charges take the money and give them the backpay. Why should the taxpayers give these morons a cushy vacation just because they felt like abusing their authority?

Other recent incidents include Outrageous 911 call and another one where two cops tasered a restaurant employee just for kicks.

I guess you were a hard worker at 16 years old? I worked at a Wendy's when I was 16, and it sucked. I didn't give a shit about that job, and none of the people that work at them do. It's hard to give a fuck about a job that you can replace within 15 minutes of getting fired. Why do you think these places are constantly hiring people? Sorry; but when you pay people shit money and overwork them, you get shitty service. When someone raised hell or acted miffed over service when I worked in fast food as a teenager, I went in the back and made fun of them. Hell, I might even go have a smoke and make the fucker wait before I got the manager.

Well I'm for the paid leave....while it's being investigated. "Unpaid leave" is typcally a punitive action which should be taken only after the facts are in. However from what I've seen so far, I don't think "leave" should be this guy's punishment. I think at the very least a firing is in order, and charges as well. Now what comes of those charges and what the law says he's facing, I don't know. But he appears to have already demonstrated he can't be trusted to carry a firearm, so that should be out of the question for his future, regardless of the charges.

Maybe I have just been lucky, but I have never encountered macDonald's staff being anything but great. They are often harried and overworked, running like mad to get everybody their stuff as fast as they can without fucking up the orders. When there has been a mistake, they are quick to appologise and correct it, even when the customer is being an asshole. I have seen this in MacDonald's restaurants in Canada, the US, Japan, and Hong Kong. The service at BK & KFC is comprable, I don't know about Wendy's, I don't eat there.

Sorry to disappoint, but I'm in favor of paid leave as well.  Just because someone is a police officer doesn't mean they aren't entitled to due process.

Due process ? What if I would've pulled that stupid stunt, give me due process including a mini-vacation with pay.

The last thing we need is more cops on power trips. And they don't know the first thing about guns. You know what the first thing about guns is ? Well I will tell you, you don't pull it unless you intend to use it. I have known that for probably forty years. If you are a threat to me my gun is indeed the last thing you'll ever see. That might not apply if you're sitting in my house as a guest and I say "Check this out", but if you are an intruder, boom. I even got a gun with slower bullets so you can hear it, because I will shoot to kill.

So now we have police or - peace officers who don't even know this ?

At the very fucking least, don't pay the guy for not working. That is a major problem in this country, too many people paid to do nothing. This is bullshit. You or I sit in jail losing our shit because we can't make bail, these MFs just go in and pick up their paychecks ? Some servants. Just who are they protecting and serving ?

And I still have yet to hear about ONE cop beating up a suspect who is not handcuffed. Stress my fucking ass, if they follow protocols there are plenty of more dangerous jobs. Those protocols include not pulling the gun when the fast food ain't fast enough. I don't want that guy protecting and serving me.

Note that my opinion in this case differs greatly from that in the case of the Harvard professor who got arrested breaking into his own house. Completely different, in this case there was no threat and no crime until doofus decided to "shoot the jukebox" so to speak because it played a sad song and made him cry.

I think the first requirement to be a police officer is that one should be a fucking adult. Hell, what am I even talking about ? Like I said I knew not to do stoooooooopid shit like this when I was a kid !

I would think that a security video should be readily available to confirm the out of control officer's actions. If it shows him with weapon drawn, no paid leave, lock him up just like every other citizen would be locked up. Police are in no way superior to others despite the myth of "the thin blue line", they come from the same population that produces rapists, murders, and theives. They are not conscripted, they apply for their job just like all other job seekers and most take full advantage of the perks of the job, i.e. running stop signs, speeding, or just bullying the populace because they can hide behind the badge. Altruism is a trait lost within a very short time because they have to deal with so many low-lifes. On a local level most of the police around here were bullies in school, one even blew his hand off while making a bomb (this was in the "boys will be boys" days so no arrest, just sympathy for loss of limb). I was witness to the one handed boy beating another senseless, clubbing the other over the head with his hooked stump...in the middle of the high school lobby during school hours. Just because someone wears a badge it does not relegate them to sainthood nor grant them them immunity from the law imho.

Do you think the employee remembered to ask if the cop wanted fries or an apple pie with his order?

But yeah, it sounds like Mr. Officer was long over due for a vacation... paid or not.

Clearly the cop has serious issues, I mean, it's just not healthy! ... anyone ordering food from there is surely clinically insane? ... I rest my case.

So, what's being said here is that because the guy does happen to be a cop, all other priorities should be pushed aside in order for that investigation to happen right that minute?  All of the witness statements taken on scene, video tape watched immediately, and hey, while we're at it, let's drive the guy straight to the courthouse where a pre-selected judge and jury can do an insta-trial.  Sorry, but if that situation is defused, the priority should go the next dumbass who happens to be waving a gun in Denver.

I find certain McDonald's to be faster than others.  Some are quicker if you go inside and order, some not.  One things for certain.  You GET what you pay for.  If you want a cheery, attentive smile, pick a better restaurant!

hey slaveboy,

I did work at 16 but not at MickeyD's...because I knew it was shitty...I did other shitty things like washing cars, cutting grass, etc...not much money there either. My belief is if that job sucks so much, then don't do it...or change it asap. I am not saying they have to treat idiot customers like VIPs but at least keep the notion alive that the line has to keep on moving....its a vicious cycle...shitty customers, shitty service and lazyness...which breeds more contempt and shitty customers....so this idiot kid also got a lesson in customer service, alas, the hard way.

Lets not make excuses for lazyness....or the nasty cops who abuse power for that matter.
