Well, they were transporting a prisoner. An accident could have occurred, and that's pretty serious. We just had a few prison guards fired a couple of weeks ago for getting lap dances by a prison nurse on duty. All of this came to light when a man left in his own shit for days in an isolation cell almost died of septicimia. I guess the guards were too busy getting their groove on to give a shit. If you're in law enforcement, you're responsible for other people's lives. Juvenille antics like these have no place. You want to get laid or get a lap dance, you wait until you're off duty.

Hmm... the chief was allowed to retire, but the officer's resignation was refused and she was fired. Meanwhile, the talking head on the video clip yammers about how the chief is the one who is being held accountable.
Nice.

Pretty damn stupid of them, I mean one assumes they knew the dash cam was there. I agree that is unfair that the chief was allowed to retire (and thus keep his pensions, etc,) and she was not. To my mind the chief should have been subject to far stiffer penalties than her simply because he was in a position of authority over her. He was the fucking chief of police for christ's sake, if anybody is to be punished for what is in all honesty a pretty unimportant breach (it would be irrelevant except that they were transporting a prisoner) it should be him.
When a boss and an underling (sorry I know that's a harsh word but I can't think of a better one at the moment) are involved in an innapropriate act, it is the boss that shoulders the blame. That may seem harsh, but that is the way it should be. He had the authority, he abused his authority.

Both are involved, it was consensual, both should suffer the same consequences, none of this bolox about one supposedly knowing better due to rank, they are both human, they both know better and they both failed, they suffer the same, no favouritism due to ranks constructed by humans to rule other humans.

Fair or not, often times more is expected of someone with higher rank. It is that way in our military also. I don't remember the cutoff rank but below a certain rank, piss testing hot got you reprimanded, counceled, etc etc etc. Above a certain rank, you just got booted out, period. They expect those in command to be leaders, examples.

Obviously given the nature of politics, even those guidelines can be blurry. But that's whats on paper, regardless.

Just a side note for y'all.....Perry Township, Ohio is in Stark County, Ohio.....the same county where the Sheriff's office took some heat recently (maybe last year?) for the "forceful" strip search they did of a female while she was being intake processed (or whatever they call it) after being arrested.

(I was born and raised there)

Your logic seems a bit flawed here, a superior should set an example and people are usually promoted because they are better qualified, hence getting in a position that allows them more responsibility... They also earn more, due to their superior position, so it would only seem fair to expect a bit more from them.
