OP:

The idea that long range forces can be viewed as waves on a string or connecting tube is fasinating...it is like plumbing..with the H shape..and the connecting tube as gravitational pull..and time flowing up the tubes.

The string theory also was revived due to trying to  make sense of why some particles have a "left handedness..

The thing I am fasicanted by is that due to the theory that particles string up/connect as tubes in the H... not interchange..we then have the possible existence of up to
26
dimensions not 4..
String theory leads to infinities
We have to have more than 3 dimensions or we would fall into the sun..
but 26 ...wow

The string theory presents a way of overcoming general restrictions of relativity..or takng a short cut acoss  a dimension.

SO it is like if we lived in a space like a doughnut..and were anchored on the outer edge..but could travel in a 3rd dimemnsion you could cut across the ring..
a short cut/time travel

I like the idea that there are dif formlations for dif situations..and
a unified theory

Fascinating, mostly incomprehensible, but still fascinating.

Yea it is fascinating. But also the sub-atomic world is strange as hell. Cause following effect? A person might go mad.

I recommend this video.

That's what I find so fascinating about it all, what we consider common sense rules, simply do not apply. There seems to be no limit to how wild the theories get, and yet they seem to be born out by the experiments. It seems that as each layer is peeled back they discover a whole new miniverse with its own laws and such, the smaller the particles they study, the weirder the interactions become, to the point that they seem contradictory and impossible, and yet....it seems it is so.

I'm reading it right now. Although these days I don't seem to have the quiet time I used to so find it a bit more difficult to read.

What is of most interest to me is it is not incomprehensible.  To think the tiny things which make up everything can be both a wave and a particle at once(wave particle duality) and violate no laws of their land yet violate every principal of our land still drops my jaw to the floor.  I am still trying to really wrap my mind around the double slit experiment, mhhmm.

Oh he is amazing.  I'd suggest his book The Elegant Universe - I can see it from my bookshelf from here.  I would really suggest Brian Cox as well.

Oh baby!  I do not even care if you are male or female!  That is hot!

True porn for the intellectual, right?  I think this is widely misunderstood when presented in popularized literature though.

Sometimes when we speak of these things without using math they seem to be mystic.
I do not view any of this with mysticism so do not get me wrong.  But the pure potential of the most basic building blocks of life which make up everything to have the ability to be anything shatters every notion of common sense I have ever had.

I just think overall that we humans might actually have the ability to come up with a coherent theory of everything to be inspiring.  What we have done as a modern and progressive society within the last 50 - 100 years has truly trumped everything we have done in the last 2,000(anticipates objections. . . ).  I've been following and interacting on occasion with some at the Large Haldron Collider.  It is a shame it will not be restarted until October.  However, this I believe is a true monument to the ability of us all.  The largest global experiment known to man.  Even finding out the boson higgs field/ god particle does not exist will still "destroy" many men but it is still a tremendous finding.  It will be just as important as when science disvocered luminiferous aether is not necessary for light.

Anywho thanks!  I was just curious.  I wish I was smarter though to 'really' get all this stuff.  :(

Yes, I recently enjoyed the documentary "What the Bleep Do We Know?" It's basically an introduction to quantum physics, presented in an entertaining format. I plan to watch the sequel very soon.

Imagine everything from vibrating invisible energies with multiple or parallel universes with many dimensions…wormholes and singularities between.

These random strings of energy break apart and combine randomly to make……you and me….my my.. soooo weird and incomprehensible that it almost takes faith like religion to believe it…you know like the hand of God

It is tough to find presenters smart enough to dumb it down to where I can wrap my head around the concepts.  I'll have to check out some of the items mentioned here.
