LATEXBABY64 -> Intelectual Poison (7/10/2009 3:27:36 PM)

I have read many post in here. I have been part of the lifestyle for very long time but what i am curious about is when you find prodomme and she says it is ok to lie to get people for sessions Do you find this healthy or unhealthy how does that make other pro dommes look

Lockit -> RE: Intelectual Poison (7/10/2009 3:36:42 PM)

A lie is a lie no matter who is telling it.  I don't think it is okay to lie to manipulate people unless your life is in danger.

With someone claiming to be pro-dominant and lying to get clients/customer's... they are not pro-dominant's, but are scammer's in my opinion.

philosopheradept -> RE: Intelectual Poison (7/10/2009 5:34:40 PM)

It depends on the lie, I suppose.  If it's essentially false advertising (claiming to be able to give something they can't or won't give, being considerably older/younger/larger/smaller/(other comparative value) than what they claim), then it seems very clearly wrong.  Is that the sort of lie that you're talking about?

Being a free market capitalist sort, I'd say that the market will arbitrate whether it's healthy or not, since when it comes to pros, we're talking business, not personal.  Of course if the ethical ones wanted to band together and all get union labels tatooed on their butts so that their "customers" could feel more confident that they would get what they were paying for, that'd be OK too.  Don't see it happening anytime soon though.

When it comes to hustling for cash, bud, a certain percentage of people are going to do whatever they can get away with.  That's not likely to change.

Arpig -> RE: Intelectual Poison (7/10/2009 9:47:52 PM)

I think it would be wrong to lie to make a profit, but then again I am a lousey businessman (damned morality)

You know, normally, I'd agree with that, but then I'd usually say that fucking your customers in the ass with a giant dildo would be a bad business practice too, but in this case, that would be a hard argument to make.  Who is to say that this particular market segment doesn't enjoy occasionally being lied to as much as some of them like the giant dildo up the ass?

That's why I was saying that when it comes to this particular market, the market kind of has to decide when being lied to is ok, and not ok.

zaphira does not find it healthy or unhealthy. She does however, find it unethical.

Deceiving people, or doing anything BDSM-related under false pretenses or coercion, is NEVER okay. It is conning people and manipulating their emotions. It gives the lifestyle a very bad name, and tells everyone else that Dom/mes can't be trusted, and that's deplorable and quite sad.

k.

Neither. I actually find it kind of amusing if you want the truth.

Why should I care how it makes the other prodomme's look? for that matter, why should anyone care?

...and how is that different from the FDA saying xxx medicine is 100% approved, safe and effective?  It isn't lying, its called marketing.

I suppose it's similar to when you buy a product and you find the supplier hasn't upheld his end of the bargain. You wouldn't buy from him again - assuming you don't value a sub-standard product. Once word gets round the lies can ony be self-defeating. Unhealthy? not sure about. Potentially idiotic - most definitely.

Arillis -> RE: Intelectual Poison (7/11/2009 4:06:45 AM)

I can’t remember that last day I did not mislead manipulate and lie, nor do I ever want to face telling the truth about some things. 2800 people depend on me for a paycheck every week and the government would rather send their jobs to India, so I lie, mislead abuse and use the procurement office and its employees in any and every way possible and as often as I can. Of course I make a lot of money from it so my lie benefits me and I suffer no guilt. Of course the lie is a tool; no government on this planet is without. It has many virtues.

LATEXBABY64 -> RE: Intelectual Poison (7/11/2009 4:41:06 PM)

there are a lot of great prodommes that do not have to lie you get what you see so I feel just like any product you get what ya pay for lol

Arpig -> RE: Intelectual Poison (7/11/2009 8:22:07 PM)

That is a really, really sad comentary on the present state of affairs.

oceanwinds -> RE: Intelectual Poison (7/12/2009 8:26:32 AM)

What I find hard understanding is your termology, intellectual poison. What does this have to do with intelligence? Perhaps the word has a different association for me. Lying is not seen in my book as an intelligent thing to do but the cowards way of doing things.

abuddingdom -> RE: Intelectual Poison (7/12/2009 5:10:43 PM)

thanks, oceanwinds -I was wondering re the title myself.......

Leonidas - thats quite a generalization.  I'm no expert on pro Dommes, I  actually only know one personally but she has a strict no sex policy up front with her potential clients so there would be no ass fucking with a giant dildo (or even a tiny dildo) in her house. I've seen a couple  others who advertise on this site & they also clearly state no sex.

femmetasia -> RE: Intelectual Poison (7/13/2009 6:50:07 AM)

Buyer Beware.  The last used car sales man said it was a steal.  It was, they stole from me.  Best defence is research and testimonials.  Without them, well who is to blame for ending up with a lemon?

Healthy or unhealthy? That's not the question i'd be asking, LOL. i say run for the hills. i don't care what a person does, i detest this kind of thinking and behavior. In terms of how this one pro Domme makes others look, she has no affect on my opinion of another. She is who she is. i don't assume her practices are commonplace for everyone.

Truth in advertising? You poor miguided soul

A lie is a lie and a scam a scam.  I am not blind to how the world functions... but I am allowed an opinion on it.
