You could mount him on the hood and have him sign when to turn.

LaT, I didn't say I wasn't interested in mounting him in some way.

(Sorry, Panda.  I can't resist such a good opening for a bit of comedy.)

You guys can both mount me any way you like any time you like, of course, but my recommendation is not on the inside of the windshield with one of those suction-cup thingies. Most cops will pull you over right away for driving like that.

Panda, are you really quite sure you don't want to be My submissive version of a GPS?

You're not worried I'll make you move too sharply to the left, too? Look at how I corrupted poor Sanity!

That wasn't quite the way I had in mind, Panda.

Greetings everyone, we're back home now. San Francisco WAS great, it's a wonderful city. We saw Fisherman's Wharf and the street musicians and the sea lions, we ate at Alioto's as per ThatDamnedPanda (it was fantastic, thanks again Panda!)

We went through the California Academy of Sciences, [sarcasm] learned that CO2 is a toxic gas [/sarcasm]... saw some fantastic fossils though, and many other fine exhibits - and the planetarium was worth the three hour wait. In all, the Academy of Sciences was a good experience.

We also drove through Yosemite, and we got our feet wet in the Pacific, spent some time wandering around in the Redwoods and also in the Newberry Caldera... we found a really neat swimming hole there, by Newberry, underneath a beautiful waterfall on Palina creek.

We also attended a star party in central Oregon...

It was all very good, but I should have taken two weeks, is my only regret. It was all just a little bit too hurried.

Ah well, now to begin planning next year's adventure!

Fishermans wharf is good for seeing sea lions.. (pier 39, Ithink?)  there's also a few awesome restaurants there.

I love S.F.

Not doing any traveling this summer, like I'd like to, but it's not much different than most years, for me.  I just don't have the funds.  My splurge comes tomorrow, and thats just to travel about 3 hrs away to spend a day or two with others from here.

Have a blast on your trip!  It sounds great!

Animals mounted on the vehicle, is this a road trip thread, or a road kill?a couple of years ago, the morning after partying all night following a Violent Femmes concert, we were hammered drunk riding around all day with a dead racoon on the roof of the car, it's blood has dribbled down all over the winshield. Good thing we didn't cross paths with johnny law, we would all still be in jail....

On a business trip, left Los Angeles early morning July 16, drove to Ironhorse motorcycle rally in Red Lodge , Montana, partied with the headlining band at a campsite until the sun came up. Since then have been in North Dakota, back across northern Montana, just rolled into Butte, Montana for Evel Knievel Days, 2700 miles later, It's Thursday night, the streets are blocked, whiskey bars set up on the sidewalks, the bands is set up in the middle of an intersection, there are young, and old, dancing in the street, building up to Saturday night when it gets real wild. Then driving all through Wyoming on the way to Sturgis, where anything can happen, then all through South Dakota, Nebraska, western Kansas, the Thunder on the plains, the to Ignacio , Colorado, staying at a luxury resort for the Four Corners Rally on Labor Day weekend, my birthday. A hot little blond is flying in from Louisiana to be my birthday present. Then it's back to Kansas for a little more work.

By the time this trip is over, I should have my classic 1965 panhead about ready to run, and have finally crammed in enough music theory to begin scoring my own music. The percussionist involved with my project has a recording studio, so hopefully it won't take long to get rolling with a new c.d. yes, this is a great trip, the best part is getting paid to do it!! Should end up in excess of 11,000 miles, maybe 12,000. Upon returning to California, planning to go back to Maine for three months of sitting next to the woodstove , listening to water boil, watching the candles flicker, with no electricity, in my favorite weather, twenty or thirty below zero, no wonder I can't hang on to a woman for long.... I used to be quite the wild animal, and lately that's been a problem, my edge has been slipping. No more. Chances are, I won't be back here for awhile. My life is a road trip.
