When someone tells me "good luck in your search" i usually reply thank you, my search is rather easy as I'm just looking for friends LOL

This is something I see a LOT and I am curious and your comment brought it to my attention.

If you are ONLY seeking friends why does your Profile say you are Actively Seeking Dominant Men?

I ask this because I see this all the time why have your Profile Options say one then and then your Profile say another. It is Confusing considering when I search for what I am looking for I am searching for someone who is looking for a Poly Household and I find LOTS of people who are already IN a Poly Household looking for a Third. This is at least more understandable than someone who says they are Taken and Not looking but thier Profile options say they are Activly seeking a Dominant Man.

So not that I am pointing fingers directly at you but I noticed it in your profile when I looked at it and am hoping you can help me to understand.

Steel

This was not directed at me but is there another spot I should be changing if I am not actively seeking?  I really need to look at the profile options more closely!  going to check that out now.

Nah, Kyst, you got that covered . . . . Steel's talking about the place that also includes 'Seeking Friends', which is what you've got checked off . . . . . It's that big chunk of tick-boxes at the top of the 'Edit Profile' page that has all the 'Joining Poly House', 'Roommates', 'MaleDom Couples', 'FemDom Couples', & so on & so forth . . . .

Or, in your case frankx, sticking your finger through your cam. [:D] Sorry, no disrespect. I just couldn't resist.

Maybe I could find an alternative use for my finger.  Just lean this way a bit. [sm=fingers.gif]

From me, Good luck in your search, which I've used quite a few times, means, I'm not the one,  keep looking.  But I do wish you the best even if.

Yes.  It's much nicer than "bugger off."

That reminds me of a line from a favourite film of mine - Local Hero.

A guy is painting the name on a boat (for about the third time in the film) and someone remarks " are there not two l's in dollar?" to which the reply is "and are there two g's in bugger off!"

I usually use that phrase for someone whom I've talked with or who has contacted me, and we're just not good match.

On the other hand... are we really so bored or easily annoyed that we have to gripe about other people's well-wishes for us? For heaven's sakes, folks, it is someone being -pleasant-, or at least not overtly -rude-... how bad can that be, and does being wished well -really- bother us THAT much???

mine doesnt say i'm seeking *anything*.  but i still get goobs emailing me, or trying to tell me how to set my mail controls...when i've been here a couple years now and KNOW how to do that.  if i set so no males can c-mail me, then i cannot recieve mail from my long distance dominant.

i shouldnt have to make my life more difficult to make IDIOTS who wont read a damn profile (and mine is short) understand that no, their attentions arent wanted.  *eyeroll*

back to the topic, if i bother to be nice to some dumbarse who emails me demanding that i drop everything to be his submissive?  i end it "good look in finding what you're looking for, cause it sure aint me".

kitten, snarklette.

Finger currently holstered, but ready for action when required.  Poised, like a coiled spring.  Shaken but not stirred.

* wanders off to sound of James Bond theme *

FR, after read thru

*giggles*

Some of the sub-themes of this thread are reminding me of what I would think about when I said, 'Have a nice day!' (very chirpily), when I was a sales & customer service person, lol . . . . . I'd generally be thinking of the end of 'My Own Private Idaho', where it flashes on the screen, 'Have a nice day', 'means', 'fuck you' . . . . . lol

Arpig -> RE: Good luck in your search? (7/11/2009 2:10:17 PM)

Given that this is an adult personals site (at least it is on the other side) and that the vast majority of people on the other side are indeed looking, its a simple assumption to make. When somebody cmails me, I usually glance at their profile, but I do not always bother to read their whole profile, so its entirely possible that I wouldn't know if they are looking or not.

Myself, I find it a non-issue really, what difference does it make if somebody assumes you are looking and wishes you good luck. I often sign my CMails "Good hunting", it is simply a way of wishing somebody you know nothing about well. Whether or not I am actually actively seeking a partner or not, it in no way diminishes the sentiment expressed, they are just being polite and wishing you well.

FullCircle -> RE: Good luck in your search? (7/11/2009 2:27:06 PM)

Only like minded people say things like "Good luck with your search."

FACT.
