OH NO.

this is a MAKE TIME FOR movie.

this puts No Country for Old Me in it's place.

This is the NEW Citizen Kane.

make the time.

Hmm, okay, I'll move it up the list... I really like No Country......

My daughter complained that Public Enemies wasn't sufficiently true to the book, that it left out too many of the criminals of the time.

Nine was a fabulous Broadway musical, years back. Of course it was originally based on Fellini's 8 1/2. So we have a movie based on a show based on a movie.

you will LOVE There Will Be Blood, then

bear in mind it's not quite as violent and it's "paced" without being slow.

TOTAL character film.

cinematically, it becomes, at times, similar to 1700's Japanese silk paintings (especially the screens) in terms of colour and composition in reds and oranges and sepias using the USA WEst.

We saw it because a lot of it was filmed in small towns here in Wisconsin. It was ok. I was tired of hearing machine guns go off for 2 hours. I had to laugh when they would shoot 2 tommy guns, one in each hand. I have held one of those guns and they are heavy...

Hi Celeste. I never read the book, but no movie could fit all of those characters in, and do them justice, I think. They barely touched on Pretty Boy Floyd, and gave Baby Face Nelson a bit more screen time.

"Paced" is good [:D]. Good art takes time, occasionally, not everything has to go lickety split all the time.

There Will Be Blood is, what is called in my house, a buyer. One that is in our collection. Fantastic movie. Not a happy happy feel good, but raw and gritty and.....life.

I adore the complexity that Daniel Day Lewis gives his characters.

I've always liked him, but I honestly never dreamed he had this performance in him. I was blown away.

Good acting all around in that film, really. The actor who played that wacky preacher kid was extraordinary; I was surprised he didn't get a nomination. If he didn't get one for that performance, it's just a matter of time before he does.
