playfulotter -> More and more I see this paragraph on various profiles.... (7/6/2009 12:19:14 PM)

Does anyone else think it is a silly practice as I do or am I just being naive? (I apologize if there already has been a thread about this but I found it a hard one to search for)

It is a disclaimer that is meant to prevent people from taking and using their photos but it will be next to impossible to enforce it for various reasons.

Yes, Thank you for the response.  I knew what the reason was but like you said...it is silly to think it can be enforced and who is going to go through the trouble of suing someone...Yikes! I just thought it made people think what they had written or their photos were so important that they wanted to protect them but like you said next to impossible.[;)]

If you don't put the disclaimer, you have no recourse, sadly its the 80/20 rule, 80% of the people have to protect themselves against the 20% phucktards.

Some sites claim ownership of any and all content that members post to their site - as soon as you post it no longer belongs to you.  So such a "disclaimer" may not be valid.  Personally i wouldn't post anything that i wanted to protect.

Well corporations aren’t mentioned in the disclaimer so to I take it McDonalds can take a couple of the lairy looking profile pictures to perpetuate the myth that Ronald McDonald is still alive.[8|]

Maybe it's a bit like when people put the security stickers on their home or vehicle doors/windows to try to deter someone from trying something. After all, if you are saying you'll prosecute, perhaps the person contemplating it will choose another target. It's easy on their part to choose someone else and perhaps won't lead to any problems.

Whenever I see "no games" I roll my eyes.

Why set oneself up for failure.  So- the person then is required to prove they do not play games.  But how do you prove that?

..of which in itself renders the interaction to BE a game.

I think it's an incredibly intelligent thing to put on ones profile.

If it cuts down on their quoting that Anais Nin shit about more effort to stay in the bud than get the fuck out of it...............

I expect it scares alotta people and since the pictures are of someone elses ass, or a butterfly........even the Taliban cowers at the calumny of such statements.  And they think that because they don't see their coyingly sweet or ignorantly crafted psych-babble repeated that they have risen to the top.............

Regardless of the disclaimer, it's still going to happen.

On "the" other site, I received an email asking me if a particular picture was of me (it was). She proceeded to respond back that someone else on the same site posted the picture as one of there own. I emailed the guy and thanked him for liking my photo but to kindly remove it, and he did.
It's the risk one takes by placing pictures on the net.

P.S. Ron, what's wrong with Anais Nin? Just askin [sm=flash.gif]

After thousands of profiles in different foreground and background colors that have that quoted and thats about all, and then complaining that they have given the store away and you are writing them a one-liner...........

I mean what do you say to them?

Hey, nice tits, the reason I am writing you is because I feel I know you, because of the lovely way you have mixed the colors of the foreground in the pedestrianest of A. Nin quotes..........and until this very moment I guess I have never understood it.

You can guess how many blowjobs I have recieved from A. Nin quotes
