House wrecked as man kills weeds with flame thrower 2 hours, 51 minutes ago

BERLIN (AFP) - A German gardener's house was left a smouldering wreck on Friday after he set it on fire while trying to get rid of the weeds with the help of a flame-thrower, police said.

After accidentally setting his hedge alight, the 54-year-old's garden shed was soon also engulfed in flames and despite efforts to extinguish the fire with a garden hose, the blaze spread to the roof of the house.

Seven firemen were needed to put out the blaze in Tangstedt near Hamburg in northern Germany, which occurred on Thursday. Police said the house was now uninhabitable.

Flame-throwers are used widely in agriculture and also in gardening, but generally only for removing weeds from between cracks in paving in driveways and patios.

Lord ain't it the truth!

He'd be a really unhappy camper in my garden. Most of what I grow is considered weeds by those who are clueless.

*Hey...leave those dandelions alone!!!*

See that is why Master and I don't do gardening. I knew there was a reason other than we hate it.

I have never had much of a spewage problem however if anyone comes across an adult size bib (you know the ones with a lip at the bottom to catch food) Master has been looking to get me one. So rare for me to eat a meal and not get something down my front!

I might be less understanding if I hadn't done it myself a few times.

They mention that it is the kind used in landscaping and agriculture meaning it is NOT a Flame "THROWER" It does not Ignite an sprayable fuel source it is a Hand held Burner attached to a Tank of Propane.

The Torch is Ignited and then it works like a Propane Grill only you can direct the flame. Most Weeds just wilt away and rarely catch fire however if you are burning FULL weeks meaning you did not pull what was pullable first yes you can get a large flame.

I have set a few Rose Bushes on Fire. The Vinyl Siding that I was told was Aluminum siding. And a Child Rocking horse.

Okay the Rocking Horse was for fun but it is easier to torch things than you think it only takes a second and things are in flames.

Oh, you are a silly man!  For aluminum siding you can go to my parents' house, and if you stick to the rhubarb plants you'll get no complaints.

Our neighbours once set fire to our fence with one of those weed burning things.
