This is an amazing story. One that I can not even begin to describe. You have to see it for yourself. Fountain of Youth?

VERY COOL!!!!

I worry about Brooke though there are so many things she will never know, I know they point out that the brain has not changed much and so she is pretty mucy forever 9 months old but I wonder if there is someone in there screaming to get out.

Cool and also sad.

That is absolutely fascinating.  I watched the video twice and still cant wrap my brain around the fact that she is 16, but has not aged.

I don't see the fountain of youth here, I see a child with a severe birth defect. Who would want to be like this? No thanks, I'll take my middle age.

Oh my god, that poor little thing. What a wonderful family she has. "We tried to go places without her, but it just doesn't feel like a family without Brooke."

This just broke my heart and has me sitting here crying. What a sweet, adorable little girl, to see her as the possible "fountain of youth" seems so wrong to me. Like Steel, I wonder if there is an adult person screaming to get out, especially when I heard that she has ways of communicating and making her wishes known.

What an incredible family, and an even more incredible little girl.

Ya, her asking for a hug and for the reporter to hold her is what started me crying... for that matter, I'm tearing up again just thinking of it. I haven't finished the video yet, I've been crying too hard.

the sad part is that poor little angel has had more medical pokes and prods in her 16 years than most of us combined.

If that's the fountain of youth, I'll decline.

I'm kinda looking at this as dog years in reverse. From all I could glean out of the video, she seems to age approximately one to two weeks for every calendar year. I would find it fascinating to live long enough to see if she is actually developing at an incredibly reduced rate.

The effects of progeria have been known and well documented for decades. It seems logical that there would be an opposite to it. So it appears that this miracle child holds a potential secret to the effects of aging.

Holly,
As for the multitude of pokes and prods, watch the video again and pay attention to the part where she recovered from what all believed to be fatal conditions more than once. So it also seems she has some miraculous healing abilities as well.

I know it's not so cool to think of her as a lab rat, but this child could have a great number of secrets locked away in her body. Even her parents hope the medical world can find the answers to those secrets so that all may benefit from her.

I still don't see the potential benefit, unless you consider not aging normally to be a benefit. And I'll admit, it's an appealing fantasy on a lot of levels, but when you start to consider it from a practical perspective, the appeal breaks down pretty quickly. People need to get old and die so they can get out of the way of the new people who are coming in behind them. It's harsh, but that's the way it is.

I could see them using it to slow down the groth of Cancer Cells.
Slow down the degrading nature of the Pancreas in Diabetics
Slow down the Aging Process of Weak Hearts.

I can see them using the Gene, if a specific one can be found in to making Growth Anti-Serums.

I see what they can do with it what I don't see is them finding it with one little girl and having never seen this mutation before.
