I think there are three scenarios:

*Deliberately walking in to the woods when you know damn good and well its loaded with hungry predators and you've been warned--well ya kinda get what you deserve.

The first one gets no sympathy from Me.

I couldn't agree more with this point.
Reminds me of one of those pearls of wisdom from my late father:
"Trouble does not often visit uninvited".
The people most likely to get hurt in any figurative "predator" situation are the ones who invite trouble, either actively by flirting with danger, or passively by wandering around with their heads up their asses.

DesFIP -> RE: Stay Out Of The Woods? (6/26/2009 2:09:21 PM)

Depends on the predators. I'm a firm believer that menstruating females should not go into the back country in grizzly territory. Coyotes won't attack a grown human. Mountain lions around here won't either, but I know in Colorado there have been cases.

If however the pack in this case is a bunch of single guys at a munch. Well, yeah, you have to be expected to be considered fresh meat. All that means is that you need to have clear communication in saying "No". If you hem and haw, don't be surprised if they don't interpret it as a no.

But attack? Nope, there are parts of inner cities where a single female on the streets is in real physical danger, but not in an Applebees at a munch. If the sub in question isn't capable of saying no and walking away, then she shouldn't be there. For the rest of us adults, it ain't true.

I'm a firm believer that menstruating women should not go anywhere near men.

Very dangerous stuff.

Sweetie, by the time the bleeding starts, the PREmenstrual syndrome is over.  If you're still pissing them off, well... [8|]

You don't have to outrun the wolfpack.  Merely the slowest gazelle.

QuixoticErrant -> RE: Stay Out Of The Woods? (6/26/2009 5:31:04 PM)

Well it totally depends on the circumstances.

Nothing ventured is nothing gained, but don't be an idiot either. Depends on the woods, wolves and red ridinghoods in question.

MissAnimus -> RE: Stay Out Of The Woods? (6/26/2009 6:10:10 PM)

Bring on the wolves.

(figuratively)

Ah yes, I saw that too. The sub is under consideration, and has gone to her "Sir" because doms are still mailing her, although she has expressly forbidden them to do so. And now she is upset. And then she asks what reason we have to think she has never met her "Sir"

I figure that if "Sir" is of the opinion that other men sending her emails is her being attacked in the woods, and she eats this hook, line and sinker, she probably needs different pills.

BarnacleBill -> RE: Stay Out Of The Woods? (6/27/2009 3:55:23 PM)

Always be aware of things around you as common sense will keep most safe anyway. AND if you ever are deep in the woods and you here this phrase..."You shore got a Pretty Mouth Boy!" Run like Hell! lol

You can be in danger in the biggest city or the most barren place esp if you stumble along blindly. And here in this style you also want to watch what you come across. Be careful to keep your self from harm both physically and mentally.

Common sense and asking the right questions helps a lot!

pdv99 -> RE: Stay Out Of The Woods? (6/27/2009 4:26:06 PM)

Why bother with analogies which can be misleading? Why not just say what you mean, then nobody gets confused.

If this was advice about the dangers of play in forests, fine. But we don't have lethal predators in the woods in the UK.

If it was advice about how to deal with certain types of people, spell it out! Sometimes analogies that work in one context can be worse than unhelpful in another. You could read this as advice to girls....don't go out wearing that short skirt or you'll deserve to get raped.....   People aren't wild animals - they are social ones. They are capable of a much wider range of responses, for better or worse.

Yes that would be the one, A relatively new profile here.  and under concideration before  she had established her place here.
I thought it was advice to the sub  as in "your too weak to deal with this so  dont look".
But what  hit me most was a "Dom" thinking this way.  I expect confidence  from a Dom, my own attitude is more like " If I want to go in the woods  the things in there will have to take their chances"
But my advice to a sub would have been simpler
A You can handle it ,I have confidence in you.
and
B If you cant dont worry send it to me and I will.

Missokyst -> RE: Stay Out Of The Woods? (6/28/2009 8:55:21 AM)

I like A.  If I thought someone really needed B because they didn't understand the concept of not opening mail, or hitting the small x in the corner then I wouldn't think twice about walking away.  Some people have to get burned, have their money stolen, move 5 states away, ect before learning that ds is no different from life.  We live it and need to take responsibility for our part in it.

I read this just a minute ago, actually... and my thought was it's a rather manipulative move and strikes me as someone scared- the one offering the advice. But then, the whole "You can't message me without express permission from LordBobbySox OR ELSE!" thing usually brings out the same reaction as a sign saying "Do Not Touch" in me. Mainly because I can't imagine what LordBobbySox would or could possibly do...

Play in the woods. They're lovely, dark and deep...

ElectraGlide -> RE: Stay Out Of The Woods? (6/28/2009 9:07:35 AM)

Watch out for them ticks and snakes also, I run across them almost every time this year hiking and geo-caching, lol.

I concur. I clicked on this thread thinking about people who go into the woods / parks /etc. to do what they do, so to speak, and then I began to think on which animals tend to roam and hunt in packs. The context of the quote leads one to believe these are some type of invincible, vast, ravenous creatures, as for shooting one, my first thought of defense in such a situation where I was confronted with animals that didn't run from whomever I was with, or me alone, was to simply fire a shot in the air, so to speak. Assuming you're not using an airsoft pistol, and say, perhaps a .45, the sound--in my imagination--would send any pack of sorts off quickly...

~fr~

Avoidance is never a way to deal with anything; though, it can save lives.

Isn’t the “will attack anything” more of a 'rabid human', characteristic, then “packs of wild animals”?

Twisted advice; at best.

Kim

I was raised in Alaska  there are a lot of animals in the woods there that just dont care about a shot one way or another. A few of them that will run toward you  when shot..
But after 20 years raising livestock the scaryest thing isnt from the woods its  from town, a pack of domestic dogs on a night out.  Dogs are a lot like teenagers sweet and respectfull in the daylight at home and  downright dangerous when a bunch are out at night showing off for their buddies.

I agree to a point but many submissives dont want to deal with this sorta stuff. In my case it makes me laugh when someone trys to get rude and  pushy through the mail.
So its just one of my free services I offer a sub......LOL
